WHEREAS, pursuant to Colorado State Statute 30-10-109, the Board
of County Commissioners of the respective counties shall, by ��;'�:•
resolution, designate the days and hours for the transaction of
County business, and •
� WfiEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners last established the ; .
hours open to the public for the Pi.tkin County Clerk and Recorder's
office to be from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM in resolution 77-1I5, and

WHEREAS, the clerk and recorder's office desires to remain open to �
_ 'i the public the same number of houxs each day, and to change these
hours from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM to 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, and kt

j WHEREAS, this change will minimally impact the public, mostly in
`:� a positive way, and
WHEREAS, in a survey of all County Clerks and Recorders in the
State of Colorado, it was determined that the majority af counties
7 (60�) are open to the public 8 hours or less. Of the counties open
� to the public 8 hours a day, the majority (51$) are open from 8:30 �
�';.� AM to 4:3o PM. There are more counties open to the public from
_ . ,� 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM than any other time span, and

� , WHEREAS, there are certain duties of the Clerk and Recorders Office
that need to be compl.eted while the office is closed to the public.
` For example, backing up the state motor vehicle system, ringing out
: the register, counting the cash, and checking and filming the '
• `�? recorded documents, and
;,��� WHEREAS, it is stated in the Pitkin County personnel manual that
flextime is encouraged to reduce the peak loads on Highway 82 and
"" to allow employees flexibility in arranqing their scheduled hours. '
;,`�' These new hours will better allow use of flextime.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Pitkin County Board of County
' Commissioners, that after January 1, 1992 the office hours of the
. �`..� Pitkin County Clerk and Recorder shall be kept open to the public
-.° aontinuously from 8:30 AM to 4:3o PM every working day. '
