RECITALS •
l. Pitkin County adopted the"Energy Conservation and Thermal Insutatiod'Chapter ,
of the Uniform Building Code in 1982. In 1990,Pitkin County adopted the 1989 Model
Energy Code. 't�'

2. The Model Energy Code does not regulate outdoor heating systems,such as �
snowmelt and outdoor pools and spas. �
3. The Aspen/Pittcin Energy Conservation Code was developed with review and �
;.,.,:
feedback from the Energy 2000 Committee,Ihe Community Office of Resource '�
Efficiency,the Rocky Mountain Institute,and local utility companies. '

4. The Aspen/Pitkin Energy Conservation Code establishes standards for pools,spas,
and snowmelt systems.
5. It is the policy of the County to encourage features in any development which will
conserve energy resources and minimize the consumption of energy.
NOW,THEI2EEOR�,BE IT ORDAINED by the Pitki�County Board of
County Commissioners that it hereby amends Title VII oF the Pitkin C'ounty Code-
Building Reaulations-as folfows:

1. Repeal and re-enact Title VII ARide I Section l-I to read as follows: :'`'' `

Article I �'
Section 1-I. Pursuant to the powers and authority conferred by the laws of the 5ate of j �'
Colorado,it is hereby adopted as the building code for all of the unincorporated areas
within Pitkin County,by reference thereto,the Uniform Building Code, 1994 Edition,
published by the Intemational ConPerence of Building Officials,536a South Workman �. :,::r�-
Mi1!Road,Whittier,California,including the following appendices attached thereto

Chapters 4,I3,15,i6,30,31,33,and the Uniform Building Code Standards,9194,Edition; ;;��, .
and except insofar as certain sectiotts and parts are specifically amended as set out in °r
Article 2 of this Title,all as if full set out herein.
