CALL TO ORDER: Chairman George Newman called the Board of County
Commissioners Special Meeting to order at 1:58 PM
COUNTY COMMISSION MEMBERS PRESENT: George Newman, Michael Owsley,
Rob Ittner and Steve Child
COMMISSION MEMBERS ABSENT: Rachel Richards was attending a NACO
Conference.
Action: Commissioner Owsley moved to convene the Special Meeting as the Board of
Social Services. Commissioner Child seconded the motion. Motion passed 4 to 0 with
Commissioners Newman, Ittner, Owsley and Child voting aye and Commissioner
Richards not present.
HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES FIRST QUARTERLY UPDATE WITH THE BOARD
OF SOCIAL SERVICES (Januarv, Februarv and March Budqet Reports)
STAFF: Nan Sundeen, Director of Health and Human Services; Mitzi Ledingham,
Assistant Director of Health and Human Services; Kim Dubois, Adult Family Services
Manager for Pitkin County; Kathleen Lyons, Economic Services Director from Eagle
County; Marty Ames, Director of Senior Services; and Connie Garofalo, Fund Specialist
with the Pitkin County Finance Department
Action: Commissioner Owsley moved to approve the first quarterly expenditures, as
presented. Commissioner Child seconded the motion. Motion passed 4 to 0 with
Commissioners Newman, Ittner, Owsley and Child voting aye and Commissioner
Richards not present.

Action: Commissioner Owsley moved to accept the first quarterly client payrolls.
Commissioner Child seconded the motion. Motion passed 4 to 0 with Commissioners
Newman, Ittner, Owsley and Child voting aye and Commissioner Richards not present.
Direction: For the next quarterly meeting of the Board of Social Services,
Commissioner Ittner requested that Marty Ames, Senior Services Director, include in
her chart comparisons between this year's quarters and last year's quarters to show
seasonality.
ADJOURNMENT:
Action: Commissioner Ittner moved to adjourn the Special Meeting of the Board of
Social Services at 3:02 PM. Commissioner Owsley seconded the motion. Motion
passed 4 to 0 with Commissioners Newman, Ittner, Owsley and Child voting aye and
Commissioner Richards not present.
