CALL TO ORDER: Chairman George Newman called the Board of County
Commissioners Special Meeting to order at 1:58 PM
COUNTY COMMISSION MEMBERS PRESENT: George Newman, Rob Ittner, Rachel
Richards, Michael Owsley, and Steve Child
COMMISSION MEMBERS ABSENT: None
Action: Commissioner Owsley moved to convene the Special Meeting as the Board of
Social Services. Commissioner Ittner seconded the motion. Motion passed 5 to 0 with
Commissioners Newman, Ittner, Richards, Owsley and Child voting aye.
HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES FIRST QUARTERLY UPDATE WITH THE BOARD
OF SOCIAL SERVICES (3` Quarter Januarv — Seatember Budctet Expenditure
Reprt and 3` Quarter Ciient Pavrolls and Economic Services Proqram Numbers)
STAFF: Nan Sundeen, Director of Health and Human Services; Mitri Ledingham,
Assistant Director of Health and Human Services; Kim Dubois, Adult Family Services
Manager for Pitkin County; Kathleen Lyons, Economic Services Director from Eagle
County; Marty Ames, Director of Senior Services; and Connie Garofalo, Fund Specialist
with the Pitkin County Finance Department.
DIRECTIONS TO STAFF:
BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS 1 SPECIAL MEETING NOVEMBER 19,2013
➢ Commissioner Richards noted declining numbers in the LEAP Program and
directed staff to start tracking the Low Income Energy Assistance Program
(LEAP) in the future.
➢ Commissioner Richards would like staff to keep the broader public informed of
programs offered by Senior Services by way of presentations or more available
information.
ACTION: Commissioner Owsley moved to approve the expenditures, as presented.
Commissioner Ittner seconded the motion. Motion passed 5 to 0 with Commissioners
Newman, Ittner, Richards, Owsley and Child voting aye.
ACTION: Commissioner Ittner moved to approve the payrolls, as presented.
Commissioner Owsley seconded the motion. Motion passed 5 to 0 with Commissioners
Newman, Ittner, Richards, Owsley and Child voting aye.
ADJOURNMENT:
ACTION: Commissioner Owsley moved to adjourn the Special Meeting as the Board of
Social Services at 3:00 PM. Commissioner Ittner seconded the motion. Motion passed
5 to 0 with Commissioners Newman, Ittner, Richards, Owsley and Child voting aye.
