HomeMy WebLinkAboutBocc Packet 02122014 Special Event Liquor License (Compass)AGENDA ITEM SUMMARY
REGULAR MEETING DATE: February 12, 2014
AGENDA ITEM TITLE: Special Event Liquor License Application for
Compass for Lifelong Discovery
STAFF RESPONSIBLE: Jeanette Jones
SUMMARY OF ISSUE: Compass for Lifelong Discovery has applied for a Special
Event Liquor License to sell malt, spirituous and vinous liquor for an event to be held
on February 15, 2014 at the Cozy Point Indoor Arena, 210 Juniper Hill Road,
Snowmass Village, CO 81615. The event is scheduled from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
Notice of the public hearing on this application was posted on the premises within
ten days prior to this hearing. Additionally, the applicant has applied for a special
event permit from the community development department and a permit is expected
to be issued.
BACKGROUND: This is the first year that the applicant has applied for a special
event permit.
This application is another case of the applicant not submitting timely, a Certificate of
Good Standing from the Colorado Secretary of State, and therefore the posting of
the property and the public hearing had to be rescheduled to this meeting, which
only allows a four day time period between the hearing and the event. Staff will be
working on a resolution to bring forward to the board, amending the special event
regulations requiring a 45-60 day time period for submission of a special event
application as opposed to a 30 day time period so there is more time to insure there
is a complete application and adequate time between the hearing and the event.
KEY DISCUSSION ITEMS: Staff and the applicant will be present at the meeting to
answer any questions the board might have.
RECOMMENDED BOCC ACTION: Approval of a Special Event Liquor License
for Compass for Lifelong Discovery
The following documents are attached to this memorandum:
1) Application for a Special Events Liquor License
2) Secretary of State's Certificate of Good Standing
3) Letter from Monroe Summers, General Manager, Cozy Point Ranch, LLC
4) A diagram of the event area including where the liquor will be served
