' 41rIP- ' . 41.I.--/ 4.,!..-.-----:--- -41r4. 4-qP'° .: Proclamation of the Pitkin County Board of Commissioners , Recognizing the q"C � ; 4 FIRST RESPONDERS AND MUTUAL AID TEAMS WHO RESPONDED TO THE AIRCRAFT INCIDENT AT THE ASPEN/PITKIN COUNTY AIRPORT WHEREAS, there is no doubt that two lives were saved by the hasty response of =� `= Airport Operations Officer Kirk Schoenthaler who was the first person at the scene of the tragic jet crash that left one man dead and two seriously injured; and WHEREAS, thankfully incidents of this magnitude are extremely uncommon at the airport and it's training, drilling and practice that paid off when the jet's fire was ?---"---,' - • ) extinguished in seconds rather than minutes; and WHEREAS, officials at the Airport are forever grateful to the hundreds of emergency rescue and firefighting volunteers and pros who were on the scene of the .lqi, crash in minutes, and stayed there to help, until the airport was able to return to normal �'• �€ operations a mere 34 hours after the crash; and WHEREAS, speaking for Pitkin County government, first -responders, and the entire Aspen/Snowmass community, we extend our heartfelt sympathies to the family of P h' 54-year-old Copilot Sergio Emilio Carranza Brabata who perished in the accident. E NOW, THEREFORE BE IT PROCLAIMED, that the Pitkin County Commissioners wish to recognize the heroes in our community who combine their experience with professionalism and compassion and who we rely on to "be there " for us = r when we need them.
