Association for the Education of Young Children, and Pitkin j
County child care providers, are celebrating the Month of the
Young Child in May; and
WHEREAS, by calling attention to the importance for high - quality earlyI
l childhood programs available for all children and families in our
��- community, and
yF WHEREAS, Counties that champion high - quality childcare gain immediate and 4..
long-term rewards for their community in economic vitality, civic
ff participation, school success and public safety, and
WHEREAS, given the appropriate learning opportunities that high quality
early childhood programs provide, children acquire the early `
language, mathematical, social, emotional, artistic and physical
skill development that strengthens the foundation for success in life
embraced by the Aspen idea of mind, body and spirit.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT PROCLAIMED, that the Board of County Commissioners3
and citizens of Pitkin County join the National Association for the Education of Young
Children in proclaiming May 2014 as the

We extend our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all those who work so hard to care for
1 and educate our youngest citizens, and we commend these efforts and encourage
"' community involvement of all citizens to recognize and support the needs of young
children.
