BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS SITTING AS THE BOARD OF
HEALTH AND BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES
May 27, 2014

CALL TO ORDER: Chairman Rob lttner called the Board of County Commissioners
Special Meeting to order at 1:00 PM.
COUNTY COMMISSION MEMBERS PRESENT: Rob lttner, Rachel Richards, Michael
Owsley, George Newman and Steve Child.
COMMISSION MEMBERS ABSENT: None
Action: Commission Owsley moved to enter the Special Meeting as the Board of
Health. Commissioner Child seconded the motion. Motion passed with five yea votes.
PUBLIC AND ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH QUARTERLY UPDATE WITH THE
BOARD OF HEALTH
Staff: Liz Stark, Pitkin County Public Health Director and Director of Community Health
Services, Inc.; Tom Dunlop, Pitkin County Public Health Advocate; Kurt Dahl, Pitkin
County Environmental Health Manager and Dr. Kim Levin, Pitkin County Medical
Officer.
Environmental Health Staff gave a quarterly overview of each of their specific
departments as outlined in their agenda item summary.
BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS 2 SPECIAL MEETING MAY 27,2014
Direction: Commissioner Richards suggested that staff talk with Colorado Water
Congress on the gray water issue that they presented in their memorandum.
Action: Commissioner Child moved to adjourn as the Board of Health and reconvene
as the Board of Social Services. Commissioner Richards seconded the motion. Motion
passed with five yea votes.
SOCIAL SERVICES QUARTERLY UPDATE WITH THE BOARD OF SOCIAL
SERVICES
Staff: Nan Sundeen, Director of Human Services, Kim DuBois, Kathleen Lyons, Mitzi
Ledingham and Marty Ames.
Health and Human Services staff gave their quarterly overview of each of their
departments as summarized in their agenda item summary.
Action: Commissioner Newman moved to approve the budget as provided by Connie
Garafalo, Budget Director to date. Commissioner Child seconded the motion. Motion
passed with five yea votes.
Action: Commissioner Richards moved approval of the quarterly client payroll.
Commissioner Child seconded the motion. Motion passed with five yea votes.
Joy Davis Child Support Enforcement Manager with Garfield County, gave an overview
of the joint child support services program between Garfield, Eagle and Pitkin County.
Adjournment: Rob lttner adjourned the special meeting at 3:10 p.m.
