AGENDA ITEM TITLE: 2015 Ambulance Licenses

ISSUE STATEMENT: C.R.S. 25-3.5-301 states that:
“After January 1, 1978, no person shall provide ambulance service publically or privately in
the state unless that person holds a valid license to do so issues by the Board of County
Commissioners of the county in which the ambulance service is based…”
Licenses for ambulances based in Pitkin County are completed annually with licenses valid from
January 1 to December 31 of each licensing year.
BACKGROUND: Standards for ambulance licensing in Colorado are required by C.R.S. 25-3.5-
308. The local Emergency Medical Trauma Advisory Council oversees the annual inspection and
licensing process for ambulances based in the County and recommends licensing actions to the
Board of County Commissioners for final approval. Ambulance inspections for motor vehicle
condition, pre-inspection, basic life-support and advanced life-support were carried out according to
state requirements in November and December 2014.
The Council recommends the Board approve the renewal of annual ambulance licenses for 2015 for
the following entities:
Aspen Ambulance District: Medic 93, Medic 94, Medic 95 and Medic 96
Snowmass/Wildcat Fire Protection District: Medic 71, Medic 72 and Medic 73
Basalt Rural Fire Protection District: Medic 41, Medic 42, Medic 43 and Medic 44
