near Carolyn:
This is to follow up our conversations with respect to changes made on
the Ensign ISD6 from those drawings originally submitted to your
office. I have reviewed those changes in the field, with Mr. a -sign's
structural engineer, Bob Patillo, and with respect to the Pitkin County
Land use Code. Those changes are as follows:
1. The system was changed from a bed -type system to a trench system.
2. In order to lessen the impact on the site, the trench wall piaced
approximately seven feet from the foundation wall, requng
variance from your regulations.

It is my opinion that the system, as installed, will function properly
and will no have any adverse effect on the structural stability of the
residence itself. The ground in the area has extremely pbr Perm
lation rates, the bottom Of the trenches appeared to be below the
foundation level and it would appear that any migration

water ffrom the rom the trenches would tend to move away

1. All materials, installation practices, setbac;
requirements, etc., shall comply with the Pitkin County
Individual Sewage Disposal System Reguletions.
2. The E.T. bed shall be constructed so tho' the bottom is
level ±0. 1 inches. Place bed in natural .ground, no
portion of the bed shall be placed in fii'.
J. Provide adequate surface water diversion to assure thct
runoff does not enter the evopo-tronspimtion bed.
4. Stone shall be 1/2" M 2-1/2" screened rock.
5. Sand shall be 0.5 to 1.0 mm effective size with a
uniformity coefficient of 4 or less.
6. The recommended bed seeding is blue Cross of 4 to 6
lbs/100 sq.ft. All other areas disturbed by construction
shall be reseeded with native grosses to prevent erosion.
7. The location of the bed may be adjusted in the field to
better fit the site, provided all setback:; are met.
S. Drain holes in 4" perforated pipe to be at JO" s ting (2
holes per spacing, 7/J2" dia. located fownward).
9. 4" PVC tees should not be glued to enable observations of
water level in system and to remove excess salts
accumulation or surplus water, if necessary.
10. Use risers as deeded to bring septic tank access hatch
within 6" of Anished grade.
