THIS PERMIT IS EXPRESSLY CONDITIONED UPON COMPLIANCE WITH ALL REQUIREMENTS OF THE PITKIN COUNTY OWTS REGULATION, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THOSE CONDITIONS SPECIFIED ABOVE. Plans and specifications for the proposed OWTS have been reviewed and are considered satisfactory. Permission is hereby given to the property owner(s) to perform the work indicated in accordance with the Pitkin County OWTS Regulation. This Permit will expire 1 year from the date of issuance unless construction on the system has commenced. Looks like a 25% red is taken for dosing and we only allow a 20% reduction — BUT the safety factor used is larger, so the numbers come out the same or more conservative than required. Our regs say... Subsusrface Drip System a) Drip pipe shall be installed between 12" and 30" below grade. b) Dosing shall be between 30% and 50% of the volume of the perforated pipe per dose. c) The ETA system absorption area shall have a min of four sections. d) The effects of soil permeability (percolation rate), slope, and final vegetative cover and erosion control must be addressed in the design. e) Design criteria shall estimate the percent allocation by evaporation, transpiration, and absorption (MAYBE THIS IS THE MYSTERY NUMBER???) f) No irrigation shall be allowed of the ETA system's absorption area. The property is located outside of Aspen, in an area where OWTS and wells are necessary.tThe revision is based on a change in drain field twAwlogy/ SITE CONDITIONS A 4 -bedroom residence having less than 6000 SF is planned. The proposed drain field area slopes 8% to the north, and vegetation consists of a moderate cover of grasses with sparse trees. The property is served by a well located 200+ feet to the southwest of the residence. The subsurface was investigated by aging ont'pffift pit and three percolation lioles, as indicated. The materials encountered and reported by HP Geotech consisted of sandy clay, underlain by clay and gravel to the n%ximum 4iepth explored of 8 feet. Groundwater or bedrock was not encountered. Three percolation holes were dug, in the area of the proposed drain field, as indicated. Percolation rates ranged from 160 to 80 minutes per inch (MPI). A 100 MPI rate will be used to design the OWTS. DESIGN SPECIFICATIONS 'J The OWS design is based on 4 bedrooms, an average sewage load of 600 GPD and an application rate oN.24 gallons per square foot (SF) per day. The application rate is based on evapotranspiration - t_ d absorption. The installation must include a 90"gallon. two-compartment, precast concrete septic tank with a PV -55 pump vault (Orenco) ltd second compartment,•followed by a drip irrigation drain field in 10 sections. Ten 8-fd lWy 80 -foot sections of drip irrigation field mus?Aw installed for a total area of 6400 Sp. Distribution valves must be used to distribute effluent to the drain field. The OWS should be constructed similar to figures attached. Construction must be according to the county ISDS regulations, the septic permit provided by County Health Depart- ment, and this design. a Onsite Wastewater systems Page 2 The surface of the field must be seeded after installation of the system to minimize erosion and provide vegetation transpiration. A native seed Construction must be according to the Pitkin County Environmental Health and Natural Resources Department OWTS regulations, the OWTS Construction Permit provided by Pitkin County Environmental Health and Natural Resources Department, and this design. OPERATION INFORMATION AND MAINTENANCE The surface of the drain field should be seeded upon completion. Vegetation is an important factor in drain'field performance. Erosion control should be practiced prior to and during re -vegetation. Geo - fabrics or plastics should not be used over the drain field. No heavy equipment, machinery, or materials should be placed on backfilled drain field. Livestock should not graze on the drain field. Plumbing fixtures should be checked to ensure that no additional water is being discharged to OWTS. For Example, a running toilet or leaky faucet can discharge hundreds of gallons of water a day and harm a drain field. The homeowner should pump the septic tank every two years and clean the effluent filter as needed. Garbage disposal use should be minimized, and non -biodegradable materials should not be placed into the OWTS. Grease should not be placed in household drains. Loading from a water softener should not be discharged into the OWTS. No hazardous wastes should be directed into the OWTS. Mechanical room drains should not discharge into the OWS. The OWTS is engineered for domestic waste only. ADDITIONAL CONSTRUCTION NOTES If design includes a pump, air release valves and weep holes should be installed to allow pump lines to drain to minimize risk of freezing. Excavation equipment must not drive in excavation of drain field due to the potential to compact soil. Extensions should be placed on all septic tank components to allow access to them from existing grade. Precast concrete tanks and distribution boxes should be used, unless plastic or fiberglass is required. Access to all tank compartments and distribution devices is optimal. INSTALLATION OBSERVATIONS ALL SERVICE septic, LLC, and the county must view the OWTS during construction. The OWTS observation should be performed before backfill, after placement of chambers and distribution pipes. Septic tanks, distribution devices, pumps, dosing siphons, and other plumbing, as applicable, must also be observed. ALL SERVICE septic, LLC should be notified 48 hours in advance to observe the installation. IMININ&I The design is based on information submitted. If soil conditions encountered are different from conditions described in report, ALL SERVICE septic, LLC should be notified. All OWS construction must be according to the county regulations. Requirements not specified in this report must follow county regulations. The installer should have documented and demonstrated knowledge of the requirements and regulations of the county in which they are working. G Please call with questions.
