(the"Contractor"), is hereby amended as follows: Description of Change: Army Corps permit was delayed 15 days; pier 3 anchor bolts require additional reinforcement;unanticipated replacement of bridge wooden beams(stringers). Reason for Change: Changes in the construction conditions require work outside the original scope of work.And require additional time and logistical costs to accomplish. The basis of the extension stem from several conditions that are beyond the control of the contractor and were not readily assessable at the time of the bid. • The first condition surrounds the procurement of the Army Corps permit for work that impacts the river below high water line. Per our original bid schedule, we intended to start footing formwork at pier 3 on September 30, 2015 (see attached preliminary schedule submitted with the proposal), but the actual approval letter was not delivered to us until October 14, 2015, a delay of 15 calendar days. • The second condition surrounds the layout of the anchor bolts that attach to the rocks that support the steel columns at pier 3. The actual anchor bolt locations are partially on the rock at the downstream side, and 2 on the very edge of the rock at the upstream side. These conditions will require us to create concrete pilasters at each rock to properly support the anchor bolts and give sufficient bearing of the column base plates. The reinforcing steel and formwork required to create the pilasters were not anticipated at time of bid. The estimated time needed to construct the extra work consists of 4 calendar days. • The third condition stems from the discovery of severely rotted wood beams (stringers)at each end of the bridge. deciliw was made to replace all beams at each end with new timber. The additional work to replace the beams and cut and install blocking at the new beams is a changed condition subject to change order. The estimate time needed to reconstruct the 2 spans consists of 4 calendar days. It's for these reasons that a contract extension and a change order are due. The attached revised schedule reflects the impacts of the delay and shows a new anticipated completion date. Some of the remaining work is weather dependent which may impact our ability to complete the project in the time stated. It is our intention to work expediently to complete the project ahead of this proposed schedule if possible.
