The legal description of the property is Lot 30, Sopris Mountain Ranch Subdivision. The permit and record drawing was provided by Pitkin County Environmental Health Department (Parcel ID #2465-331-01-005). The subject OWTS consists of two 1000 -gallon, single -compartment Copeland concrete septic tanks followed a distribution box, which is accessible from grade. Flow is divided into two gravelless chamber beds, each with 48 Standard Infiltrator® chambers for a total of 96 Standard InfiltratorqD chambers and 1488 square feet of infiltrative area (using 15.5 square feet per chamber). The clean out near the house is missing the cap. The septic tanks, located north of the driveway, have lids that are accessible from grade. The lid on the inlet side of the first septic tank had deteriorated and was replaced by D&D Septic. All inlet and outlet tees are present, with an effluent filter on the outlet side of the second septic tank. A float and wiring is present above the effluent filter; however, when the float was raised, no audible or visual alarm sounded anywhere near the septic tank. It is unlikely this alarm is functional. The distribution box is accessible from grade. The distribution box splits flows into two beds. Each bed has six inspection ports at the end of the chamber rows. A couple of caps are missing on the ports. No liquid was present in the inspection ports. The absorption area had substantial snow cover at the time of the inspection. The absorption area showed no signs of surface saturation, and had no indication of failure. This evaluation is not a guarantee of future system performance. This inspection is good for one year. Recommendations: Replace missing caps on clean out and inspection ports. Clean effluent filter annually, or as needed. If desired, repair alarm float so there is an audible and visual alarm in the case of an over -full septic tank. This report should be submitted to the Pitkin County Environmental Health Department.
