Holy Cross Proposed Transmission Line, Bud Eylar 3:00 PM ADJOURN APPROVED JUNE 26, 2002 MINUTES PITKIN COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS SPECIAL MEETING JUNE 18,2002 CALL TO ORDER: Chairperson Clapper called a special meeting of the Board of County Commissioners to order at 10:15 a.m. COMMISSION MEMBERS PRESENT: Commissioners Patti Clapper, Dorothea Farris and Jack Hatfield COMMISSION MEMBERS ABSENT: Commissioners Mick Ireland and Roy SECOND READING—RESOLUTION SUBMITTING TO THE ELECTORATE AT AN ELECTION TO BE HELD ON AUGUST 13, 2002,A QUESTION REPEALING ARTICLE IX OF THE COUNTY'S HOME RULE CHARTER TO MAKE THE CHARTER CONSISTENT WITH THE STATE CONSTITUTION— MOTION TO APPROVE A discussion ensued with respect to whether or not this proposed question should be placed on the August primary ballot or wait until the November ballot? Silvia Davis, County Clerk and Recorder proceeded to review the items on the primary ballot for the benefit of commission members. Tom Oken, Administrative Services Manager, urged the board to place this question on the primary ballot. He explained that if it is defeated in August it could be placed on the November ballot. Commissioner Hatfield commented that he disagrees with putting this question on the primary ballot. He said he thinks it would be better to allow some time for a campaign of education and inter-action throughout the county on the issues and for this reason and then place it on the November ballot. Chairperson Clapper opened the hearing to public comment. There being no comment she closed the public hearing and brought the matter back to the board for action. BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS 1 SPECIAL MEETING JUNE 18,2002 Commissioner Farris moved approval of second reading of the Resolution and directed staff to place it on the primary election ballot. Commissioner Clapper seconded the motion. Motion passed with two yea votes and one nay vote by Commissioner Hatfield.
