Pitkin County conducted a performance evaluation session under the Cable Television
Franchise Agreement between Pitkin County and TCI of Northern New Jersey, Inc. (the
"Agreement") on January 8, 2002. Jim Niswender, General Manager for this area, was
extremely helpful in providing information and explanations to staff and the Board of
County Commissioners in connection with this review. The County has been satisfied
with the performance of TCI under the Agreement.
As part of the review, the County received written notice from TCI that it completed an
upgrade of the Cable System in Pitkin County served by the Aspen head end to 750MHz,
and activated two-way capability. During review, the County agreed to accept the
upgrade without further verification. In accordance with the provisions of Section 12.1
of the Agreement, the Agreement is extended to November 16, 2009. Additional annual
payments of S15,000. to the County's designated access provider will commence on
November 15, 2005.
