OF PITKIN COUNTY, COLORADO,
MODIFYING FEES FOR THE SOLID WASTE CENTER

Recitals
1. Pitkin County wishes to set fees which are consistent and fair to the
public, and which reflect the expenses incurred in providing such services
to the public.
2. Pitkin County wishes to recover usable commodities from the waste
stream and to exact fees that induce the public to separate usable materials
from trash.
3. Pitkin County wishes to set fees for retail sales of commodities that reflect
current market conditions in the local economy.
4. The Pitkin County Board of County Commissioners has decided that it is
in the best interests of the citizens of Pitkin County for the Solid Waste
Center to begin aggressive aggregate recovery and produce and market
new products for the local economy.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE board of County
Commissioners of Pitkin County, Colorado that the following PITKIN
COUNTY SOLID WASTE CENTER TIP FEE SCHEDULE, be adopted,
effective 30 days after final publication.
ORD No. 02-or Tipping Fees
Compactor trucks (unsorted) $40 per ton*
Shredded loads (unsorted) $40 per ton*
All other trucks and trailers (unsorted) $21 per cubic yard**
Soil and rock suitable for screening into topsoil $2 per cubic yard
Soil and rock suitable for sorting and crushing
into saleable rock products $5 per cubic yard
Soil and rock suitable for daily cover $5 per cubic yard
Brush and Lumber $12 per cubic yard; residential first
two (2) cubic yards waived when
delivered by the homeowner
Scrap Metal $12 per cubic yard
Major appliances $10 each
Refrigerators must be certified Freon free
Motor vehicles $20 each
All fluids must be removed and dump permit obtained from Sheriff
Tires $3 each without rims
$10 each with rims
Carrion over 1501bs. $20 each
Hazardous Materials first five gallons free, then $1/gallon
ALL Hazardous Materials accepted will be received into the Household
Hazardous Waste Facility (not the landfill). Regulated hazardous waste
generators must receive prior approval before delivering wastes to the facility.
Clean-up Fee $30 per occurrence
Clean-up fee is incurred when loads are tipped in the wrong area causing extra
handling by Solid Waste Center personnel.
Special Waste Handling Fee Tip Fee + $1.00 per yard
'" plus $0.67 per ton for Hazardous Substance Response Fund and $0.33 for Valley
Resource Management* plus $0.20 per cubic yard for Hazardous Substance Response
Fund and $0.10 per cubic yard for Valley Resource Management
