Changes must be approved by this Department and the engineer prior to construction. This additional 1000 gallon 2 -compartment tank will serve the new barn bathroom. The field area is large enough to handle the additional load. An Orenco PF -50 Biotube pump or equivalent will be installed in the 2nd chamber of the tank to move effluent up to the original 1500 gallon tank near the house. The tank must be at least 10' from a property line or water supply line, and 50' to the well. This Permit must be kept on-site during installation. The engineer must do a final inspection of the installation and submit an "as -built" letter to this Department within 30 days of the final inspection, unless a longer period of time has been agreed upon, in writing. This Department must also be called for the final inspection with a minimum of 48 hours notice. Minimum horizontal distances between components of the system and physical features shall conform to the requirements of the Pitkin County OWTS Regulation. This Permit is conditioned upon the property owner(s) providing for regular inspection, cleaning, and maintenance of the system by qualified personnel, in accordance with the manufacturers recommendations and the requirements of the Pitkin County OWTS Regulation. Issuance of this OWTS Construction Permit does not constitute a guarantee, warranty, or representation by the Department that the system will operate properly or will not fail. Issuance of this permit does not imply compliance with Pitkin County building and/or land use regulations, nor guarantee issuance of building and/or land use permits. Aspen Digger installed the system. The new OWTS will serve a proposed pool house with a toilet, lavatory, and shower. This pool house will be an accessory use to the 3 -bedroom main house. The installation included a new 1000 -gallon, two-compartment Valley Precast concrete septic tank with an OrencoO pumping system in the second compartment. A PF3005 Orenco® pump was installed. There is an effluent filter inside the second compartment of the septic tank. This filter must be cleaned annually, or as needed. The control panel for the pump was installed within line of sight of the septic tank. Valley Precast personnel performed start-up on the pump. Effluent is pumped via a 2 -inch diameter pump line to the existing OWTS serving the residence. The 2 - inch line transitions to a 4 -inch clean out near the existing septic tank. The record drawing has been provided by the installer. The existing OWTS consists of one 1500 -gallon, two-compartment septic tank with an effluent filter on the outlet. Effluent gravity flows to a distribution box and five gravelless chamber trenches, each with 25 'Quick 4' Infiltrator® chambers for a total of 1234 square feet of infiltrative area. Individual Sewage Disposal Permit 04090 documents this system. The OWTS was generally installed according to specifications. This observation is not a guarantee of workmanship and/or parts and materials. ALL SERVICE septic, LLC should be notified if changes are made to the OWTS in the future. Any additional OWTS construction must be according to the county regulations. LIMITS: Observations are limited to components that are visible at the time of the inspection. The installer must have documented and demonstrated knowledge of the requirements and regulations of the county in which they are working. The quality of the installation is dependent of the expertise of the installer, soil type, and weather conditions. The existing 3 -bedroom residence is currently served by an existing onsite wastewater treatment system (OWTS). There is a private well on the property. The new tank must be located a minimum of 50 -feet from the existing well. The existing OWTS consists of one 1500 -gallon, two-compartment septic tank with an effluent filter on the outlet. Effluent gravity flows to a distribution box and five gravelless chamber trenches, each with 25 `Quick 4' Infiltrator® chambers for a total of 1234 square feet of infiltrative area. Individual Sewage Disposal Permit 04090 documents this system. A pool house consisting of a toilet, sink, and shower is proposed. A 1000 -gallon, two-compartment septic tank should be installed with an Oren Biotube® pump vault in the second compartment. We recommend an Orenco® PF -50 pump, but other pumps may be considered. The pump must be able to pump 40 feet elevation gain and a distance of 350 feet. A 2" line should be plumbed to the existing 1500 -gallon septic tank that serves the existing residence. The line should have sufficient drain -back into the tank when the pump kicks off and be well -bedded with good material to eliminate the possibility of settling. The alarm for the pump should be located in an area where it can be heard and within line of sight to the tank. Construction must be according to Pitkin County Onsite Wastewater Treatment System Regulations, the OWTS Construction Permit provided by Pitkin County Environmental Health Department, and this design. OPERATION INFORMATION AND MAINTENANCE The property owner shall be responsible for the operation and maintenance of each OWTS servicing the property. The property owner is responsible for maintaining service contracts for manufactured units, alternating absorption systems, and any other components needing maintenance. V 0 0 Page 2 The homeowner should pump the septic tank every two years, or as needed gauged by measurement of solids in the tank. Garbage disposal use should be minimized, and non -biodegradable materials should not be placed into the OWTS. Grease should not be placed in household drains. Loading from a water softener should not be discharged into the OWTS. No hazardous wastes should be directed into the OWTS. Mechanical room drains should not discharge into the OWTS. The OWTS is engineered for domestic waste only. INSTALLATION OBSERVATIONS ALL SERVICE septic, LLC must view the OWTS during construction. The OWTS observation should be performed before backfill, after placement of OWTS components. Septic tanks, distribution devices, pumps, dosing siphons, and other plumbing, as applicable, must also be observed. ADDITIONAL CONSTRUCTION NOTES If design includes a pump, air release valves and weep holes should be installed to allow pump lines to drain to minimize risk of freezing. Excavation equipment must not drive in excavation of drain field due to the potential to compact soil. Extensions should be placed on all septic tank components to allow access to them from existing grade. Using the newly calculated Design Flow, you would need 1025 sq feet of absorption area. You currently have 1240 square feet from what I can tell from your as -built (5 rows of 16 Standard Infiltrators). Either way, you are covered and your field has plenty of capacity. You will need to apply for a Tank only permit ($523) and provide a site plan, plans for the out -building listing or highlighting the new fixtures, engineer specifications on the pump, and development approvals (I didn't mention that on the phone, but I'm assuming you went through some process w/ Com Dev? — or provide old approvals since I don't seem to have them in your file). I have the water information we need and a site inspection won't be necessary since I'm familiar w/ your property and you are only adding a tank.
