B. 21 A.an, C.I.J. 11920 521-{121 Rel House Investigation Weaver Residence Pitkin County Woody Creek, CO Personnel of this Laboratory have inspected the foundation excavation at the above referenced site to determine subsurface soil conditions. We have also reviewed the Structural Engineering report submitted to you by Mr. Roger Hocking of Eldorado Engineering of Glenwood Springs. Recommendations and comments for this site are shown belows Soil classifications Soils on this site were found to consist of red -brown angular silty c -f GRAVEL with a trace of clay containing weathered rocs: fragments up to 12 inches in dia- meter locally derived from the Maroon Formation to the north of the site. This soil appears to be low expansive in nature. Man-made fills None - soils are native to the site. Moisture conditions at time of inspections Low to moderately moist. Foundation typg re o m ndeds The foundation design recommended by Mr. Hocking takes the on-site soils into direct consider- ation. Due to the, nature and depth of the rear foundation cuts, it is imperative that the design parameters mentioned by Mr. Hocking be followed.
