IT IS THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE ENGINEER THAT A )OSING
SYSTEM BE USED FOR THE SEPTIC SYSTEM. HOWEVER, IF IS NOT
REQUIRED BY THE STATE OF COLORADO HEALTH DEPAR°TRENT OR
THE PITKIN ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH DEPARTMENT. IT Hi,S BEEN SHOWN
THAT A DOSING SYSTEM HAS A LONGER LIFE SPAN THAN CONVENTIONAL
GRAVITY OPERATED TRICKLE SYSTEMS. GRAVITY SYSTEMS HAVE
BEEN SHOWN TO CONCENTRATE EFFLUENT AT ONE SPECIFIC AREA OF
THE LEACH FIELD, THEREFORE CAUSING A LOSS IN THE ABSORPTION
RATE AT THE SPECIFIC AREA. THIS TYPE OF SOIL FAILU'tE IS
PERMANENT. THE EFFLUENT IS THEN CONCENTRATED ONTO THE
SURROUNDING AREA EVENTUALLY CAUSING TOTAL FAILU tE OF THE
SEPTIC SYSTEM. USING A DOSING SYSTEM, A MORE UNIFORM
DISTRIBUTION OF THE EFFLUENT IS ASSURED. THE DOSING SYSTEM
INUNDATES THE LEACHING AREA AND THEN ALLOWS THE SOIL TO REST
AFTER THE LIQUID LEVEL OF THE DOSING TANK HAS BEEN
SIPHON TO A LEVEL BELOW THE SIPHON INTAKE.
IF A GRAVITY SYSTEM IS USED:
DRILL 2" PVC FEEDER PIPE O 5 O'CLOCK AND O 7 O'CLOCK EVERY 1 FOOT
ALONG PIPE INSIDE CHAMBERS. DRILL ONE 3/8' HOLE 0 6 O'CLOCK IN THE PIPE AT THE
END OF EACH LEACH CHAMBER TO ALLOW PIPES TO DRAIN I;OMPLETELY.

FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN SOLIDS ENTERING
