Re: Construction Observation of Wisconsin Mound Installed
for Cassey Coffman Residence
Dear Bob:
On December 6, 1982, a field visit was made to observe the installation
of the above referenced system. At this time the new septic tank
(1250 gallon tank with 250 gallon addition), dosing tank and the mound
without backfill were in place. I feel from this observation that the
system was installed in substantial compliance with the plans prepared
by our office. Some inconsistencies noted were:
1. The pump On -Off level controls needed adjustment.
Please note that the 2'-6" separation shown on the plans is
incorrect. The correct dimension separating these controls is
8". D6AJC
2. The visquine on the side of the sand was not extended down
into existing grade.
3. Mound dimensions differed slightly from those shown on the
plans. &K

On December 7, 1982, I discussed all of these items with Scott of
White Mt. Construction and he said they would all be corrected.

GENERAL NOTES
1. All materials, installation practices, setbacks, etc. shall conform to
Garfield County Individual Sewage System Regulations.
2. On Feeder, Manifold and Lateral lines, provide sufficient slope towards
their 'inlets to allow the piping to drain back into the dosing tank
--eating perlous: thus TTie dosing tam must be -placed at a low
enough elevation to allow for this.
3. On -Off Float Switch shall be set to provide a minimum of a 200 gallon
dose.
4. Sand shall be medium texture sand with an average grain size between
0.25 - 0.50 mm. The Engineer may require that a graduation analysis
be performed to certify that the material proposed meets this speci-
fication.
5. Minor variations in the location of this bed shall be acceptable as
long as all setback requirements are met. The amount of fill outside
of the sand area may vary from what is shown in Section A -A to allow
the howmeowner to blend the mound in with his landscaping plan.
6. The pump shall be a Meyers WHR 5 pump or an approved equal capable of
68 gpm and 17 TDH.
7. The Contractor and Owner shall take whatever measures are necessary to
assure that (a) the dosing tank, septic tank, and sewer lines are com-
pletely water tight to prevent infiltration of goundwater into the
system, and (b) the system is to be installed to prevent freezing of
all pressure and gravity sewer lines.
8. The County shall be notified when construction commences to that the
system can be inspected for conformance to the test plans.
DESIGN CRITERIA
1. Groundwater on September 17, 1982 at 4'0" in profile hole. Design for
high groundwater 2'0" below grade.
2. :low - (5 Bedrooms)(2 Persons/Bedroom)(75 gpcd) - 750 gpd.
3. Average Percolation Rate m 30 mpi by Pitkin County.
4. Area of Absorption Required - "0- . 625 ft2
