Aspen, Colorado 81612 Job No. 195 302
Subject: Percolation Test Results, Lot 7, Reudi South Shores, Pitkin County,
Colorado.
Gentlemen:
As requested, we conducted percolation testing at the subject site on September 15, 1995.
Hepworth-Pawlak Geotechnical, Inc., previously observed the building excavation at the
site and reported the results under Job No. 195 302, dated June 30, 1995. The percolation
testing was done in addition to our Agreement for Geotechnical Engineering Services to
Red Mountain Corporation, dated June 20, 1995.
Three percolation test holes had been excavated and soaked on September 14, 1995 by the
client. On September 15, 1995, a profile pit was excavated and logged by a representative
of Hepworth-Pawlak Geotechnical, Inc., and percolation testing was performed. The
subsoils encountered in the profile pit below one foot of topsoil consisted of sandy clay to
the maximum depth explored of 7 feet. No free water was observed in the pit and the
subsoils were moist.
The percolation test holes were located approximately 40 feet west and 45 feet south of
the northeast property corner of Lot 7. The percolation test results are summarized on
Table I.
If you have any questions or we may be of further assistance, please call our office.
Sincerely,
HEPWORTH-PAWLAK

Re: Reudi South Shores, Lot 7
Dear Dan:
ASPFN . PITKIN
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH DEPARTMENT
I have enclosed a copy of the sewage disposal application and
fireplace permit for Reudi South Shores, Lot 7 and your receipts
indicating payment for both.
As agreed upon for both Lot 7 and Lot 11 (see previous letter dated
1-4-95), septic permit numbers will be assigned .once the
percolation tests are run in the spring and I have received
completed information documenting that the wells have been drilled.
Normally, we size the average daily waste flow based on 2 people
per bedroom. However, in the case.of a dorm or bunk room which may
accommodate several people, I will size the daily waste flow based
on the actual number of beds.
You should also be aware that Pitkin County is in the process of
revising its sewage system regulations which will probably be
effective 'sometime this spring. Although setback requirements
should remain the same, the sizing for average daily waste flow and
absorption fields may change.
Should you have any further questions, please call.
Sincerely,
Betsey Kipp

Enclosed please find an application for a septic system and a fireplace permit, included
with fees for both.
This project (Lot 7) will be built at the same time as the Ruedi South Shore Lot 11 project.
The same circumstances apply to both in that the lot is inaccessible for soil and perc
testing until the snow melts in the spring. As with Lot 11, please approve with the
notation that the septic system will be sized this spring when the data becomes available
for your analysis.

Re: Lots 6, 9 and 10
Reudi South Shore Subdivision
Dear Rick:
After reviewing the attached preliminary soils
engineering report it would appear that the following
approach is warranted for each of the three referenced
on-site wastewater disposal systems:
1. Lot 6 seems to warrant an engineered sewage system
and more extensive subsoil investigation due to
high water table conditions.
2. On Lot 9 the soil profile seems to exhibit suitable
conditions and only precolation tests appear to be
necessary.
3. Lot 10 may exhibit a very slow percolation rate due
to the sandy clay subsoil at 5 feet. Further profile
excavations may be warranted if the topography seems
to indicate there may be other areas where these
clay deposits may not occur.
Enclosed please find three sewage disposal system applications.
The permit fee for each is $100.00 if your firm plans on
conducting percolation tests. Please advise us of your
progress with these investigations, in order that we may
meet for a joint site inspection.
