COUNTY COLORADO,APPOINTING HEARING OFFICERS TO HEAR
PETITIONS FOR ABATEMENT OF PROPERTY TAXES ON BEHALF OF THE
BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
RESOLUTION NO. '&19 2016
Recitals:
1. Pursuant to C.R.S. 39-10-114, the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) shall
hear petitions for abatement of property taxes.
2. The BOCC is charged with making a determination of whether or not taxes have
been levied without any irregularity in levying such as clerical error, or over-
evaluation.
3. If the BOCC makes a finding that there has been an error in levying taxes, the
BOCC has the authority to authorize the treasurer to issue a refund in whole or in
part to the taxpayer.
4. The volume of appeals in 2016 will exceed the amount of time that the BOCC has
available to hear appeals.
5. The BOCC wishes to appoint hearing officers to act on behalf of the BOCC.
6. The BOCC has considered the applications and qualifications of persons
interested in acting as hearing officers on behalf of the BOCC and desire to make
appointments at this time.
7. Pursuant to C.R.S. 39-10-114(1) or the state property tax administrations (C.R.S.
39-2-116) denies the petition for refund or abatement of taxes in whole or in part
the petitioner may appeal to the State Board of Assessment Appeals.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Pitkin County, Colorado that: Ken Call, Jack Musser Steve Hach and Mick Ireland are
hereby appointed to act as hearing officers on behalf of the BOCC for a term
commencing March 1, 2016 and continuing to July 1, 2016.
