We aren't doing plans for the upper level, as there is no work happening beyond cosmetics, but there are 4 bedrooms on the upper level, as shown on the original permit plans (I do not have an electronic form of those plans). As for the scope of work, essentially, we are relocating the powder room and creating a new bedroom/bath suite at the main level. Ultimately, we are doing a theater and gym at the lower level. The OWTS was permitted by Pitkin County, under permit 4109009. 'According to Pitkin County Environmental Health Department the residence has an OWS permitted for 44WAisenR and consists of twodft-gallon septic tants with a pump, and 279 °standard' gmvellm chambers.' OBSERVATIONS The existing septic tanks were inspected. The pumping compartment of the tank series was accessible and was inspected. The pump control panel is located next to the septic tanks. The pump, floats and control panel were working properly during our site visit. The septic tanks have good integrity and had a sewage level to indicate the tanks are working properly. The drain field area had several inches of snow during our inspection, although we were able to confirm vegetation conditions on top of drain field. The area of the drain fields has adequate vegetation, and the drain field areas showed no signs of surfacing effluent, and had no indication of failure. The OWTS was functioning normally at the time of our inspection. This evaluation is not a guarantee of any future drain field performance, in any way. ALL SERVICE septic, LLC evaluated the OWS, and has no further knowledge of use and/or performance, and/or any changes. Due to the size of the field, the ditch needs to be lined within 102' of the field (this is actually reduced in accordance to your letter dated 11/25/02). I also would like confirmation from you that the pump is working properly. Before we are able to sign off on CO, we have to receive documentation from the designing engineer that the system was installed per all design criteria and is ready for use. The excavation was approximately 20 feel by 90 feet in size and fixated northeast (uphill) of the propo.wil residence which was under construction at the time of our site visit. The excavation had been cut in one level between 4% wit 5% feel below the original ground surface. The subsoils exposed in the brrnom of the excavation consisted of silty sand and clay and silty clavey sand with gravel. No free water was observed in the excavation and the soils were slightly moist to midst. The test holes were coveted overnight with rigid foam insulation to prevent freezing. The additional percolation testing was conducted on March 18, 2005, by a representative of Hepworth - Pawlak Geotechnical, Inc. The percolation test results are summarized on Table 1. The percolation test results indicate infiltration rates between 20 and 30 minutes per inch with an average of 25 minutes per inch at hole depths between 54 and 78 inches below the original ground surl'ace. Soil temperatures ranged between 36 drgrees and 37 degrees Fahrenheit at the lime of testing.
