The fee for a ISDS application is $330 for a permit that takes 6 hours or less for the department to approve. If approval takes
longer than 6 hours, a rate of $65 per hour will be charged. The maximum fee is $1000. The basic fee of $330 is due at the time
of application. The remainder, if any, will be due in two stages: first, at the time of issuance of the ISDS permit; second, before
final approval of the ISDS permit.

intervals, buildings, property lines, ditches, slopes, waterlines, springs, suction or irrigation lines, drinking water cisterns, drain

that any such features not shown on attached site map are not present. Issuance of the permit does not imply the approval of
any other permit required for construction pursuant to Pitkin County codes. No construction may be undertaken until all

NOTE: SEPTIC PERMIT APPLICATIONS CANNOT BE ACCEPTED UNTIL ALL OF THE
INFORMATION BELOW IS INCLUDED.
The soils test and system design must be done by a Registered Professional Engineer. You should plan
to meet with the RPE at your site to discuss where the soils tests should be done to meet all of the
County regulations and where you want to put your house. The RPE will be your contact for issues you
want to discuss about your system's size and location. Each box should be checked to indicate the
following have been submitted before the application can be accepted.

sprinkler systems, springs, suction (irrigation) lines, drinking water cisterns, drain tiles, irrigation
di hes, lakes, ponds, water courses, streams, floodplains, floodways, dry gulches, or existing
eptic systems. This must include all such features on neighboring properties within setbacks.

For private wells, recent well driller's pump test showing gpm actually produced, well permit
showing legal supply. The minimum yield from the well or water storage shall be .07
gallons/minute/person which is 100 gallons/person/day. There must be storage or yield capable
of a 24-hour supply for domestic purposes only (not including fire protection or irrigation).
For community systems, proof there is adequate water for all houses served by the system.

All ISDS Permit fees are $330 to cover first six hours of processing. Hourly rate of $65 will be

application if your septic system is outside the building envelope and any part of the

A WAIVER IS AVAILABLE FOR SUBMITTING A BUILDING PERMIT APPLICATION PRIOR TO
OBTAINING AN INDIVIDUAL SEWAGE DISPOSAL SYSTEM PERMIT.

Subject: Percolation Testing, Proposed Drywell Septic Disposal System, Roaring
River Ranch, Gerbaz Road, Pitkin County, Colorado.
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Kinder:
As requested, Hepworth - Pawlak Geotechnical, Inc., performed percolation testing at
the subject site. The findings of our work are presented in this report. The work was
done in accordance with our proposal for geotechnical engineering services to you,
dated August 8, 2002.
A backhoe pit was excavated on August 14, 2002 at the location shown on Fig. 1. Test
holes were hand dug at four levels in the pit and were soaked with water one day prior
to testing. The subsoils exposed in the pit consisted of about 1 foot of organic fill and 5
feet of on-site granular fill with wood fragments overlying slightly silty sandy gravel
with cobbles and boulders to the maximum pit depth of 12 feet. No free water was
encountered in the pit and the soils were typically slightly moist.
Percolation testing was conducted on August 15, 2002, by a representative of Hepworth
- Pawlak Geotechnical, Inc. The percolation test results are summarized on Table I.
The percolation test results indicate an infiltration rate of 17 and 9 minutes per inch for
tests P-1 and P-2, respectively, which were conducted in the granular fill soils. Tests
P-3 and P-4 were conducted in the natural gravels and bad an infiltration rate of 15 and
24 minutes per inch, respectively. Based on the subsurface conditions encountered and
the percolation test results, the tested soils should be suitable for a drywell septic
disposal system. We recommend that a civil engineer design the drywell septic disposal
system.

On October 30, 2002, High Country Engineering personnel observed the construction of the ISDS
for the Roaring River Ranch in Pitkin County, Colorado. One U4-gallonleptic tank and onelft
*ameter septic drywell had been installed. One vent pipe was installed, a total of four are required.
The contractor was notified of this requirement and he indicated that he will install the additional 3
vent pipes. The bio -filter was installed in the septic tank outlet. The minimum pit depth of 11' was
met and verified at 11'6". Screened rock had been placed to the top of the perforated drywell
section. All minimum distances were verified per the plans.
On November 7, 2002 High Country Engineering personnel returned to the construction site. The
placement of all four vent pipes were installed.
It is High Country Engineering's determination that the installation of the system was in
conformance with the intent of the design.
