This event will be the only stop on the World Series tour in the US and one of two events in North America. The race is multstage enduro mountain bike race on July 30-31, 2016 with practice days on July 28-29, 2016. Four stages will take place on Snowmass Mountain, one on Aspen Mountain and one on Buttermilk Mountain. We are expecting 400 racers that will ride each stage once and get a combined time of all 6 stages for the overall winner. Racers will start at :30 second intervals. All racers will start on stage 1 and continue to stage 2 and so on. Once everyone has finished a stage the trail will open back to the public (average of just over 3 hours per trail) Practice on July 28; Event on July 30 Stage 1 - Snowmass Mountain: Transition to next stage via Owl Creek Trail to Sinclair and then Owl Creek Road to Buttermilk. (Pitkin County Open space permit has been submitted) Stage 2 - Buttermilk Mountain Transition to next Stage on COA Bike Path/Pedestrian Route Stage 3 - Aspen Mountain Practice on July 29 and event on July 31 Stage 4 - Snowmass Mountain: Stage 5 - Snowmass Mountain Stage 6 - Snowmass Mountain * Please note that on the two transitions that are on public bike paths (Owl Creek trail and COA trails from Tiehack to Aspen Mountain) participants will not be racing and will be spread out since each stage is a time trail format. Site Plan (and maps): All stages will be on existing trails on Aspen Ski Co permitted boundary. Although organizers have identified trails being used they are not shared with the participants until the week prior. Due to the public nature of the events permit application I have not included maps or route descriptions for the stages. On Aspen Mountain the stage will cross the county road in 3 places. We will post signage making the public aware that there is a race in progress and also have course marshals (ASC staff) at the crossings. We are requesting to use the Owl Creek Bike Path (from 2 Creeks to Sinclair Divide), Owl Creek road from Sinclair Divide to Buttermilk and the COA Bike Path (from Tiehack to Aspen Mountain). The racers will only be transitioning to the next stage (NO racing) on the public bike paths. They will be notified during the riders meeting that they must obey all signage and be respectful of the public using these trails. If they neglect to obey the signage they will either get a time penalty or be disqualified.
