Septic permit approved per compliance with the engineer design and specifications dated December 19, 2000.
Any changes must be approved by this department and the design engineerrp for to them being made. The permit
must be kept on-site by the contractor during installation.
Minimum horizontal distances between components of the system and physical features shall conform to the Pitkin
County ISDS regulations. Setback from the well to the absorption field must be at least 100 ft. The engineer
has stated that the 100 foot separation between the proposed absorption area and surface water or ground water is
appropriate to prevent contamination. There must be at least a 10 foot separation between the field and the
property line, 20 foot separation between the field and the house, and 5 feet between the house and the tank.
This design calls for a 2500 gallon septic tank followed by a 1000 gallon dosing chamber. The field will be in a bed
configuration containing 67 gravelles chamber units. Installation of these units must not exceed 1 ft due to
bedrock at 5 ft. There must be a 4 ft separation between the bottom of the chambers and bedrock.
This department does not endorse any brand of products. The engineer must do a final inspection of the
installation and submit an as -built letter to this department. This department must also be called for an inspection
with a minimum of 48 hours advanced notice.

On October 24, 2001, High Country Engineering personnel observed the construction of the septic
tank installation and infiltrator units at 171 Liberty Lane, in Pitkin County, Colorado. The system
was installed in conformance with the intent of the design except for the placement of the 2,500 -
gallon septic tank. The tank was rotated 90° as shown on the as -built plan. All actual setbacks are
shown on the As -Built Plan. An effluent filter was placed in the discharge side of the septic tank as
required by Pitkin County. Photos of the installed components are included for your use.

Mike from Woodhouse builders is enquiring about this property. Very small. I couldn't find the
file on it - parcel #2643-162-00-018, but he thinks it may not be in our files because the house could
be anywhere from 25-50 years old. THis isn't the one that we talked about before where the
taxidermist Terry Doyle lives. Anyhow, the construction people are "green" builders and were
wondering about a split gray/black water system. High Country is working on it now - don't
know what they will propose. THey said we would probably just let them keep what's there if
they added a new system)ust for the addition. I told him that wasn't necessarily the case. We
would need to check the integrity of the system and it might not be in his best interest to leave it
there if it was that old. They might be meeting first thing thurs am at the site and I thought
maybe if it was at 8 you could stop by on your way in. He will call tomorrow to co�firm.

As requested by Deric Walter of High Country Engineering, a representative of
ffopworth-l'awlak Geotechnical, Inc. conducted percolation testing at the subject site to
evablaw the feasibility of an infiltration septic disposal system. The results of our work
aw prcsentcd in this report. The work was done in accordance with our agreement for
peol,.,ssional services to you, dated August 9, 2000. We previously conducted a subsoil
study for foundation design and presented our findings in a report dated August 9,
2006, Job No. 100 610.
A profile boring and three shallow borings were drilled at the locations shown on Fig.
1, The test holes wpre soaked one day prior to testing. The soils exposed in the

(f117Jiug mfusal at a depth of 5 feet. Groundwater was not encountered in the profile
borinz and the soils wcrc slightly moist. Based on the previous subsoil study, we txpect
lira gravel soils and depth to groundwater are relatively deep.
Pareolntion test; were performed on Arty 2g, 20011 by a representative of H worth-
PawNk Geotechnical, Inc. 77ic percolation test results are presented on Table 1, The
p %LN)!,aion test results indicate an infiltration rate between about 45atl 6G jffihNftper
melt. Rased on the subsurface conditions observed and the percolation test results, the
nit;ttd arta should be suitable for a conventional infiltration septic disposal system.
