Laura Pritchard has responded and wishes to apply for a position on the Senior Services Council. There are four(4)regular vacancies and six (6) alternate vacancies on the Senior Council. Two of the regular vacancies are a result of term limits for Elizabeth Berk and Deborah Overynder whose terms expire on April 1, 2017. Amy Throm has also applied for a position on the Senior Council and was interviewed on March 28th. Peg McGavok is reapplying after her required year off and was interviewed on April 4th. Buzz Dopkin applied again after the required one year hiatus as required by the Council's By-Laws. Buzz is a long time Senior Council member and is unable to interview until late April which would delay the renewal presentation to the Board currently scheduled for April 18th. The Board agreed at the March 28th Work Session to allow Buzz to be reappointed by application only. Lee Mulcahy also applied for a position on this board, but missed the application deadline of March 17th. BACKGROUND: Applicants are interviewed and approved by the Board of County Commissioners. Per the bylaws, the Senior Services Council uses a system of Council rotation, combined with alternates. A regular member may serve one four year term with alternates rotating into regular member vacancies as they occur. Members rotating off are eligible to serve again after a one year hiatus. The Senior Board's role is to advise on the needs and problems of the aged, serve as advocates for senior citizen needs, and recommend programs to meet those needs, including senior transportation, nutrition and housing.
