The assembly is composed of a body that will be fixed to the discharge pipe and a removable cartridge that: consists of the biotube screen unit, the access handle and the vent. 1) Test -fit thO effluent filter on the 4" outlet pipe without gluing. Make sure that it fits plumb. Any existing outlet tee will have to bE removed. 2) Ensure sufficient clearance for servicing filter, but install assembly as snug as possible to the tank wall. The filter cartridge should be cleaned if it starts toplug and whenever theta A is pumped. (A biological growth will occur on the filter. This growth is natural and should not be removed until clogging sufficiently impairs the discharge rate.) 1) Remove the filter cartridge by lifting it out of the vault. 2) Spray the cartridge tubes with a hose to remove any material sticking to them. Make sure the rinse water runs back into the tank. 3) Inspect the modulating orifices. Spray them clear of debris. 4) Ensure the red plugs are secure at base of cartridge. The subject OWTS consists of a concrete 1000 -gallon two-compartment septic tank, a 500 - gallon single'' compartment concrete "de -nitrification" tank and a dosing chamber with a siphon. Effluent is dosed to an absorption area with two rows of gravelless Infiltrator® chambers, each row having 9 chambers each for a total of approximately 279 square feet of infiltrative area. A permit was obtained for the installation of this system and was documented in Pitkin County Environmental Health Department's electronic files; however, a paper file was unable to be found (Parcel ID # 2465-153-02-002). The owner was able to locate the proposed design packet, provided with the inspection report. The 1000 -gallon septic tank had a concrete inlet and an outlet tee with an effluent filter. The effluent filter''on the outlet tee was difficult to remove, so an extension was added. The septic tank was pumped between the first and second visits to the property by B&R Septic. The 500 -gallon "de -nitrification" tank had a lid on the tank, then a riser access to grade. The vent pipe extending from the tank inhibited access to the tank itself. A pipe connects that "de -nitrification" tank to the dosing chamber. The pipe coming into the dosing chamber was tilted upward, which indicates possible settling. While the system is still functional at this time, this pipe could become problematic if more settling occurs. The dosing siphon was tested and is (functioning properly. The absorption area showed no signs of saturation, and had no indication of failure. Observation ports were present.
