Box 1.0502 Aspen, Colorado Re: Residence at the Upper Woody Creek Bridge Dear Jim: After a preliminary review of the plans of Flood & Flood Engineering for replacement of the composting toilet with a mounded onsite wastewater disposal system, this department finds that the general concept complies with the Pitkin County Individual Sewage Disposal Regulations and could be permitted if additional technical information is supplied and a permit application is filed. In his letter of August 24, 1984, Jim Flood mentioned the general concept of elevating the gravel bed of the system four feet above grade and using a pump to lift the septic tank effluent uphill. This is a relatively mmon method of providing a soil layer to filter the wastewater !fore it reaches a water table or surface stream, and has proves_ successful in numerous sewage disposal installations in the county.
