GENERAL NOTES
1. ALL MATERIALS, INSTALLATION PRACTICES, SETBACK REQUIREMENTS, ETC„ SHALL
COMPLY WITH THE 2001 PITKIN COUNTY INDIVIDUAL SEWAGE DISPOSAL SYSTEM
REGULATIONS,
2. LOCATION OF THE TRENCH MAY BE ADJUSTED IN THE FIELD TO MINIMIZE CONFLICTS
WITH EXISTING VEGETATION, PROVIDED ALL SETBACKS ARE MET. FILL AREAS AND
AREAS REQUIRING RE -GRADING SHALL BE AVOIDED. CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY THAT
LAYOUT ACCOMMODATES SITE SLOPE. AND STRUCTURAL/PLUMBING ELEVATIONS
3. PIPING IN THE ISDS SYSTEM SHALL BE STANDARD SEWER PIPE ASTM D3034,
EXCEPT AS NOTED.
4. THE AREAS DISTURBED BY CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE RESEEDED WITH NATIVE
GRASS TO PREVENT EROSION OR SHALL BE COORDINATED WITH THE LOT LANDSCAPING.
5. USE RISERS AS NEEDED TO BRING SEPTIC TANK ACCESS HATCHES WITHIN 6" OF
FINISHED GRADE.
6. SDR -35 PVC PIPE OR PIPE OF EQUAL STRENGTH OR OTHER PIPE PROPERLY
SUPPORTED TO PREVENT FAILURE BY SETTLING SHALL EXTEND FROM THE SEPTIC TANK
FOR A DISTANCE OF AT LEAST FIVE FEET (5') FROM THE INLET AND OUTLET ENDS.
7. AN OSI BIOTUBE EFFLUENT FILTER SHALL BE PART OF THIS PACKAGE. THE
CONTRACTOR SHOULD INCLUDE ALL PIPING, WIRING AND ELECTRICAL/CONTROLS FOR
THIS SYSTEM.
8. THE CONTRACTOR AND OWNER SHALL TAKE WHATEVER MEASURES ARE NECESSARY
TO ASSURE THAT (a) SEPTIC TANK AND SEWER LINES ARE COMPLETELY WATER TIGHT,
AND (b) THE SYSTEM IS INSTALLED TO PREVENT FREEZING OF ALL GRAVITY SEWER
LINES.
9. THE PITKIN COUNTY ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH DEPARTMENT AND THE ENGINEER
SHALL BE NOTIFIED WHEN CONSTRUCTION COMMENCES AND KEPT ABREAST OF THE
CONSTRUCTION PROGRESS SO THAT SUFFICIENT INSPECTION CAN BE PERFORMED TO
ASSURE CONFORMANCE WITH THESE PLANS. PROVIDE A MINIMUM OF 48 HOURS NOTICE
TO EACH.
10. THE FOLLOWING PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE SCEDULE IS RECOMMENDED TO LIFE
OF THE ISDS SYSTEM: A. PUMP THE SEPTIC TANK AT LEAST ONCE EVERY TWO YEARS,
B. CHECK PLUMBING FIXTURES ON A REGULAR BASIS AND REPAIR ALL LEAKS WHICH
CAN ADD SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNTS OF WATER TO THE SYSTEM.
11. NO VEHICULAR TRAFFIC SHALL BE ALLOWED ON THE PROPOSED DISPOSAL DRY
WELL.
12. IT IS THE CONTRACTORS RESPONSIBILITY TO VERIFY ALL UTILITY LOCATIONS THAT
MAY EFFECT THE LOCATIONS OF THE ISDS FACILITIES DRAWN. VERIFICATION IS TO
BE MADE WITH THE OWNER AND THE AFFECTED UTILITY COMPANIES.
13. SUBSTITUTION OF MATERIALS (I.E. PIPE, TANKS, ETC.) IS ACCEPTABLE PROVIDED
VERIFICATION AND ACCEPTANCE BY THE ENGINEER AND ENVIRONMENTAL
HEALTH OFFICER IS OBTAINED.
14. THE APPROXIMATE LOCATION OF ALL KNOWN UTILITIES (WATER, SEWER, GAS,
PHONE, ELECTRIC, CABLE, ETC.) ARE SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS. THE CONTRACTOR
SHALL CONTACT ALL UTILITY OWNERS TO VERIFY BOTH LOCATION AND DEPTH OF
UTILITIES BEFORE ANY WORK BEGINS. CONTRACTOR SHALL BEAR THE RESPONSIBILITY
FOR THE PROTECTION OF UTILITIES DURING CONSTRUCTION. NO ADDITIONAL PAYMENT
WILL BE MADE FOR UTILITIES LOCATED BUT NOT SHOWN IN DRAWINGS.
15. FOLLOW ALL CDH (COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH) REGULATIONS AND PITKIN
COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH FOR WATER AND SEWER LINE
CROSSINGS.
16. CONTRACTOR TO VERIFY THE GRADE OF ALL EXISTING SEWER LINES BEFORE
INSTALLING ANY PIPE TO VERIFY INVERT ELEVATIONS. CONTACT ENGINEER WITH ANY
DIFFERENCES IN ELEVATIONS SO THAT GRADES CAN BE ADJUSTED. EXISTING
AS-BUILTS
SHALL BE GIVEN TO THE CONTRACTOR AND ARE AVAILABLE AT THE ENGINEER'S OFFICE
FOR REVIEW FOR BIDDING.
17. CONTRACTOR SHALL POTHOLE ALL MISCELLANEOUS UTILITIES THAT WILL CROSS OR
PARALLEL THE LINE PRIOR TO INSTALLING NEW LINE. IF GRADE CONFLICTS OCCUR,
CONTACT ENGINEER SO THAT GRADES CAN BE ADJUSTED.
18. CONTRACTOR SHOULD ALSO BE PREPARED TO POTHOLE TO VERIFY LOCATION OF
EXISTING SEPTIC LINES ON THE CURRENTLY OCCUPIED LOT.
19. THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE TO COORDINATE THIS PLAN WITH LANDSCAPING,
MECHANICAL, PLUMBING PLANS PRIOR TO INSTALLATION. ENSURE WATER SERVICES
ARE KEPT 10' FROM SEPTIC SYSTEM APPURTENANCES OR SLEEVE THE WATER LINE IN
SCHEDULE 40 PVC WHERE THE WATER SERVICE IS WITHIN 10 FEET OF SEPTIC SYSTEM
ITEMS.
20. NOTE THE LINETYPE DIFFERENCES. FOR THIS PROJECT, THE CONTRACTOR IS
RESPONSIBLE TO INSTALL THE "N4S" PIPING AND SLEEVING.
