(There is the same requirement for the inlet "T".) There was no effluent filter on the outlet pipe of the tank. This filter must be fitted with a handle so that it extends to the lid for easy access. (length to be determined by the number of risers) The outlet from the tank that was not used should be grouted. Check the other unused outlet knock -outs to see if they should be grouted since some have had very thin walls. There should be an inspection pipe at the far end of a trench. I overlooked this detail on the design you submitted. Normally there is one at the end of the two far trenches. Because of the small size of this system only one trench would need to have the inspection pipe. The trenches can be backfilled once this is done. Please call me for a final inspection once all the corrections are made If the locations of the tank and trenches have changed from the original design, please submit a new `as -built' drawing. ('Weirdo Aspen, Colorado 81612 Job No. 103 717 Subject: Percolation Testing, Proposed Residence, Lot 3, Block 2, Filing 3, 0811 Buliwinkle Circle, W/J Ranch, Pitkin County, Colorado Dear Mr. Keleher: As requested by you, Hepworth - Pawlak Geotechnical, Inc., performed percolation testing at the subject site. The work was done in accordance with our agreement for Professional Services to you, dated November 7, 2003. A Profile Pit and threeercolation test holes were excavated on November 10,. 2003 at Ilse locations shown on Figure 1. The subsoils exposed in the Profile Pit below 1/2 foot of topsoil consisted of 3 feet of silty sandy clay overlying dense silty sandy gravel with cobbles to the pit bottom depth of 5'/x feet. No free water was observed in the pit and the soils were slightly moist to moist. Percolation test holes were hated dug in the bottom of shallow backhoe pits and soaked with water on November 10, 2003. Percolation testing was conducted on November 11, 2003, by a representative of Hepworth - Pawlak Geotechnical, Inc. The percolation test results are summarized on Table 1. The average percolation rate was 43 minutes per inch. Pitkin County requires that a registered professional engineer design the septic. disposal system. The gravel subsoils exposed in the profile pit appear suitable for support of lightly loaded foundations. Footings should be placed below the expansive silty sandy clay and bear on the relatively dense silty sandy gravel soils and be designed for an allowable bearing pressure of 3,000 psf. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please call our office. Sincerely, HEPWORTH - PAWLAK GEOTECHNICAL, INC. Louis E_ Eller Rev.
