Mr. Bob Nelson
PITCO Environmental

Dear Bob:
Health Department
As per our discussion of last week, Ms Warwick has decided against
future home enlargements at this time. Therefore, I have revised
the flow calculations based upon 3 bedrooms -2 people/bedroom as per
the code. It is still Ms Warwick's intent to use low water use
faucets, showers and on one toilet. Therefore, I have included
appropriate reductions.
Considering these points, the design flow computed out to 450 gpd,
compared to the 788 gpd previously used. This flow would give a
bed size of 3333 sq. ft. I have enclosed copies of my calculations
and revised bed layout for your review. If you have any questions
feel free to contact me or Barney Fix of our office. As you are
aware, Ms Warwick is anxious to build this year and your quick review
would be appreciated.
Yours truly,
Br n Duff

Re: Warwick On -Site Sewage Disposal System, Lot R -25-A,
Starwood Subdivision
Dear Bob:
After a thorough review of the above system as designed by
Eldorado Engineering, we are of the opinion that certain
modifications can be made to the approved plans without
affecting the operation.
Our discussion with Brian Duff on August 7 indicated that the
10 mil PVC liner and cutoff wall were designed to avoid
potential subsurface drainage problems. By using a drainage
swale properly day lighted, we feel that any drainage can be
diverted around the bed area. It is not certain that ground
water is a problem based on observation of the test pits
previously dug.
The other modification involves 2 sumps located in the bed.
We understand that they are provided to allow for pumping of
the effluent should an overload situation occur. If this a
desirable convenience for future maintenance, the number of
sumps could be limited to one at the bed perimeter nearest
the distribution box.
Both of the items discussed are not County requirements and
by elimination could reduce the high cost of installation.
One last recommendation is to perform another percolation
test at the bed area. Because of the marginal test results
which exceeded County limitations by only 20 minutes per
inch, it is possible that tests at the actual bed site could
give a more favorable percolation rate thus eliminating the
need for an evapo-transpiration system. The owner has agreed
to this additional test.
-2 -
Please consider this letter as our review of the system. We
assume that the original engineer will be responsible for
certifying that construction meets thei n
requirements.
