Bob did not seem to have a problem with using the material for lining the fields. He did ask me to make sure you were aware of the change from a PVC type liner. All materials, installation practices, setback requirements, etc., shall comply with the Pitkin County Individual Sewage Disposal System Regulations. 2. The E.T. bed shall be constructed so that the bottom is level + 0.1 -ILt '%clues. Place bed in natural ground; no portion of the bed shall be placed in fill. 3. Provide adequate surface water diversion to assure that runoff does not enter the evapo-transpiration bed. 4. Stone shall be 1/2" to 2-1/2" screened rock. 5. Sand shall be 0.5 to 1.0 mm effective size with a uniformity coefficient of 4 or less. 6. The recommended bed seeding is blue grass at 4 to 6 lbs/1000 sq.ft. All other areas disturbed by construction shall be reseeded with native grasses to prevent erosion. 7. The location of the bed may be adjusted in the field to better fit the site, provided all setbacks are met. 8. The liner shall be placed in a manner which will prevent injury to scuffing, penetration by foreign objects or distress from rough surfaces. 9. The 10 mil layer solid PVC liner with no field splices is specified to provide protection to the groundwater in the area, The use of visquene shall not be accepted. Factory splices are acceptable. If spices must be made, a double layer of PVC may be necessary. 10. If the last hole, based on 30 -inch spacing, -is equal to or greater than 15 inches from the end of the lateral, put another hole in the end cap of the pipe or close to it. 11. 4" PVC vent tees should not be glued to enable observations of water level in system and to remove excess salts accumulation or surplus water, if necessary. 12. Use risers as needed to bring septic tank access hatch within 6" of finished grade. 13. Cast iron pipe or pipe of equal strength or other pipe properly supported to prevent failure by settling shall extend from tanks for a distance of at least five feet (51) from the inlet and outlet ends. 14. The Contractor and Owner shall take whatever measures are necessary to assure that (a) septic tank, dosing tank and sewer lines are completely water tight, and (b) the system is to be installed to prevent freezing of all pressure and gravity sewer lines. 15. The Pitkin County Environmental Health Department and the Engineer shall be notified when construction commences and kept abreast of the construction progress so that sufficient inspection can be performed to assure conformance with these plans. DESIGN CRITERIA 1. Number of bedrooms = 6 2. Assume 2 persons/bedroom and 75 gped. 3. Flow = (6) x (2) x (75) = 900 gpd. 4.
