ENVIRONMENTAL HEAJH GUIDELINES FOR twgIVIDUAL"SEWAGE DISPOSAL SYSTEM (ISDS) PERMITS This packet provides information and application forms for anyone who wants to build or alter an existing septic system in Pitkin County. This packet is.intended.to make it easier to understand how the process works. This is:the process involved in getiing an ISDS'permit. 1. First, submit an ISDS permit application (enclosed) and the $150 fee. 2 Second,provide Site and Build ing.Plans,:induding proposed locations of buildings,._ driveways, wells, ditches, septic systems and showing all proposed rooms in the house 3.Third, meet with Environmental Health Department staff to :discuss the site, possible `ISDS designs and to setup a visit"to inspect the site: 4. Only after completing the above 'should the applicant hire an .outside consultant.to provide- . soil test data including all required information (described in this packet) 5. If the well has not beendrilled, arrange to have that done as soon as possible, since proof of adequate amount and quality of water is required for the ISDS permit.
