1 viewed a large pit that had been excavated on the site. Duane Piller, the
excavator, said that they were hoping to install a dry well. The pit was
approximately 13'6" deep including a perc hole at the bottom, and free of ground
water or bedrock. The pit had been terraced so that pert testing could be done
at two other depths as well. One hole was tested at 8' and the other at 5'. Perc
testing had been done, but the results are unknown at this time.
The pit was located in an open grassy area with aspens surrounding it. There
was a slight downhill slope and the testing area was located downhill from the
proposed house site. The property owners plan on accessing their home by
driving up and around the proposed drywell. I told Duane that the wouldn't be
able to drive over the system unless the did a seepage pit, or had a system that
was engineered to be driven over. The property owners would probably have to
drive over at least the effluent line, so Schedule 40 pipe or the equivalent will
probably be needed for some areas.
The pit was located 22" from the edge of the road where their property line is
located, and 24' from the next closest property line. Duane said the water line
runs along the other side of the subdivision road.
