RE: Irving Biers Lot
We made a field visit to the referenced 35 acre parcel for the purpose of determining
the site suitability. The general appearance of the land in the area of the proposed
building site, slopes, and overlying soils seem suitable; and it is our opinion that
a conventional sewage disposal system can be installed according to the Pitkin County
Individual Sewage Disposal Regulations. Further, geology reports prepared by Nick
Lampiris for an adjacent parcel with similar characteristics indicate a suitable
system is "reasonable and workable". Due to access requirements it would appear
that test holes can not be prepared and properly soaked without a long access road
being built. Therefore we suggest that an excavation and foundation permit be issued
prior to approval of the sewage disposal system, but that a building permit be held
until soil tests to confirm these opinions can be confirmed.

Dear Mr. Biers:
RECEIVED UG 1 4 1979
August 9, 1979
At the request of Mr. Jim Reser of Alpine Surveying Lincoln-
DeVore personnel have performed percolation testing at the
above referenced location.
The soil materials encountered consisted of dense sandy
silt with numerous gravel -sized particles. No bedrock or
groundwater was found to exist within 10 feet of the ground
surface at the test location.
The test indicated a percolation rate of 30 minutes per one
inch drop. This is within the State of Colorado recommended
range for leaching fields of 5 to 60 minutes per inch. There-
fore, a standard septic tank and leach field system should be
suitable. This system should, of course, be specifically
designed for the anticipated wastewater flow, using the
observed percolation rate of 30 minutes per inch.
We hope this has provided the information you desired. If
questions arise, please do not hesitate to contact the Labora-
tory.
Respectfully submitted,
