Any changes must be approved by this department and the design engineer prior to them being made. Minimum horizontal distances between components of the system and physical features shall conform to the Pitkin County ISDS regulations. The field must be at least 10 feet from the property line. The ditch must be lined within 50 feet of the field. This system will consist of one 1250 gallon two compartment tank with an effluent filter on the outlet. A dosing siphon per engineer specification will be used to distributed effluent to the field. A demonstration of equal distribution by the dosing siphon should be demonstrated at the time of the inspection. The field will consist of a minimum of 2 feet of sand. The sand must conform to the intent of Section 6.28.670 A. of the Pitkin County ISDS regulations or conform to ISDS Policy 2005-001. An invoice to document the type of sand material must be submitted. 108 Quick 4 gravelless chamber units will be used on top of the sand mound in a bed configuration, 6 units by 18 units. This department does riot endorse any brand of products. This permit must be kept on-site during installation. The engineer must do a final inspection of the installation and submit an as -built letter to this department. This department must also be called for an inspection with a minimum of 48 hours advanced notice. *Revegetation over the area of the field is very important for the functioning of the system. Pitkin County has guidelines that must be followed to assure the plants that are introduced are appropriate for the conditions of the area. If approval takes longer than 6 hours, a rate of $100 per hour will be charged. The maximum fee is $1000. The basic fee of $600 is due at the time of application. The remainder, if any, will be due in two stages: first at the time of issuance of the ISDS pemrit: second, before final approval of rhe [SDS permit. The construction of the system was observed prior to backfill and was acceptable. The dosing siphon operation was also observed and appeared to have adequate pressure and distribution throughout the entire leachfield area. The installation of the ditch liner is complete. In the attached as -built of the constructed system you will note that the location of the septic tank and dosing siphon was adjusted slightly to minimize disturbance to the surrounding landscape. EXISTING CONDITIONS AND STRUCTURES The subject property is located in a rural area where Onsite Wastewater Systems (OWS) are necessary. There is an existing residence that is served by an OWS located to the north of the residence. The percolation holes were placed north of the residence, as requested by Schmueser Gordon Meyer, Inc. The slope at the area of the percolation holes is 4-5% to the north, and vegetation consists of a thick: cover of grasses. There is a water ditch running north of the percolation area. SUBSURFACE The subsurface was investigated by digging one profile hole and 3 percolation holes, at the locations indicated on Figure 1. The materials in the profile hole consisted of a 6 -inch root zone, underlain by sandy clay, with Mancos Shale Bedrock Fragments to 3.5 feet, underlain by Mancos Shale Bedrock to the maximum depth explored of 9 feet. Ground water was not encountered. Percolation rates ranged from 80 minutes per inch (MPI) to 40 MPI, with an average rate of 54 MPI.
