This report is to be used in conjunction with report dated March 24th 2008 regarding the Historic
Ranch Managers House and the Historic Homestead Cabin.
As requested, ALL SERVICE septic, LLC performed an onsite wastewater system (OWS) evaluation
for the subject property on March 27th 2008.
The subject property is located outside of Aspen, Colorado. The property has several wood frame
barns and cabins, and a single-family house.
According to our site visit and to the best of our knowledge the following plumbing and OWS exist at
the following structures:
Historic Ranch Managers House — Septic tank and drain field (per letter March 24th 2008)'
Historic Homestead Cabin - Septic tank and drain field (per letter March 24th 2008)
Managers House — Found septic tank, and general drain field location per this report
Historic Blacksmith Shop — Nothing found
Historic Cow Barn — Nothing found
Historic Bunk House and Chicken Coop — Nothing found
Hay Barn — Nothing found
Shelter — Nothing found
Proposed 5 -bedroom Residence — Refer to OWS design prepared by All Service Septic.
The existing managers house utilizes a metal septic tank and a drain field of unknown dimensions
(pictures). The metal septic tank is in fair condition and appears to be holding liquid and directing
liquid to the drain field. The manager's house is going to be demolished after construction of main
house. 1-'

OBSERVATIONS
The septic tank is located to the southwest of the residence and is accessible via an access port. The
septic tank is metal. The septic tank has minor corrosion, although appears to be intact and is holding
liquid. The septic tank is directing liquid to a drain field located to the south of the tank.
There was snow cover at the time of our observation, although the general area of the drain field
showed no signs of surfacing effluent, and had no indication of failure.
RECOMMEDATIONS AND/OR CONCLUSIONS
1. Replace the existing metal septic tank, as indicated on Figure 1. Install appropriate tees
and effluent filter.
2. The septic tank and effluent filter should be pumped and cleaned every three years, or as
needed.

Sorry this one is presenting so many questions.
ruaddition to not knowing which quality eval goes with which well, I don't see that the wells were labeled on the
te map - SO, I will need you to indicate somehow which wells serve which structures to verify legal water rights.
udging from the Balcomb and Green letter, Well #1 can serve 3 single family residences and Well #2 cannot be
sed for domestic purposes (as I understand it.)
This brings us to the evaluation of the existing system. Tim indicated in his March 20 letter that the single family
house and cabin were served by a system that necessitated a tank replacement, which I can condition on the
permit for the new house. However, it looks to me that there are more structures on the property than we have
taken into consideration for both the water and existing system evaluation.
I would like to have these outlined, if possible, in order to eliminate confusion. There is some urgency to getting
this done because if I have to pass this along to Nancy when I go on leave, she will have to start from scratch and
the review time is likely to take longer.

Can you indicate which of these have plumbing and where they are getting their water and the wastewater
systems for each? I believe we have narrowed down the proposed house and cabin, but the question that comes
to mind is which one of those listed above is the "single family house" mentioned in Tim's letter? The Historic
Ranch Manager House or the Manager's House?

The subject property is located outside of Aspen, Colorado. The property has several wood frame
barns, a cabin, and a single-family house. There is plumbing in the cabin and the single-family house.
The subject OWS consists of one metal septic tank followed by a drain field of unknown dimensions.
The OWS serves the cabin and the single-family house. A well serves the structures located 100+ feet
from the existing drain field.

tank is metal. The septic tank has minor corrosion, although appears to be intact and is holding liquid.
The septic tank is directing liquid to a drain field located to the south of the tank.
