RE: Lombard ISLES
Dear Bob:
This letter, is intended to provide you with report on the findings of
an inspection performed on October 20, 1989, on the construction of the
Lombard ISD6 located at Lot 12, Block 3, Little Elk Creek Subdivision
Filing No. 2.
Our original design (job DTo. PP148A) had identified a forced main, or
pumped system, from the septic tank (or dosing tank) to the leach
field. As you already know, the geometry of the site allowed a qravity
fed system. A previous letter from Ron Mittleider of our office, indi-
cated the changes that would need to be made to the field size to
accommodate a gravity fed system. The construction, to date, indicated
that the field construction was built per our plan and specifications
with the exception that our aravel specification is 3/4" to 2-1/2"
clean rock versus 3/4" washed rock that was used. The substitution
observed should not have any undesirable effect upon the field perform-
ance. The solid wall PVC pipe that was used in the field was a speci-
f ication of ASTM 2720. The perforated pipe used in the field was a
specification of ASTM B-2729. As long as no vehicular traffic is
allowed on the bed or over the solid wall ASTM 2720 pipe, there should
be no problems with this, either.
At the time of inspection, no cleanouts were installed between the
house and the septic tank. I will be notifying Mr. Lombard by copy of
this letter to assure that a cleanout is installed either inside the
crawl space or five feet off the building.
I hope this information serves its intended purpose. If you have any
questions or comments, please do not hesitate to call.
Sincerely,
CORDON MEYER, INC.

Dear Rick:
This is in regard to the Lombard absorption system, Int 12, Block 3,
Little Elk Creek Subdivision, Filing No. 2.
We would like to change the dosing system to a gravity -feed system. It
was determined that we have enough elevation difference to go to a
gravity system.
The effects of this change are as follows:
1. The 1000 gallon dosing tank, pump, and controls would be elim-
inated.
2. The feeder line and distribution piping would change to a 4"
Class 160 PVC pipe.
3. The bed size would be enlarged to 1842.27 S.F. (368.45 S.F.
enlargement) to eliminate the 25% reduction for dosing.
New Bed Size = 24' x 77' for a total of 1848 sq.ft.
4. The septic tank will be enlarged to 1250 gallons.
5. The distribution piping will be looped to aid in evening dis-
tribution.
I hope this is sufficient to allow Mr. Lombard to proceed with the
installation. An as -built set of plans can be generated at completion
of construction.
If you have any questions, please contact me at 945-1004.
Sincerely,
SCENUESER GORDON MEYER, INC.

to Pitkin County Individual Sewage System Regulations.
2. On Feeder, Manifold and Lateral Lines, provide sufficiant slope to-
wards their inlets to allow the piping to. drain.
3. Sand shall be medium "texture sand.

< 30-35% 0.05 - 0.25 mm
> 5-10% 0.002 - 0.05
The Engineer may require that a gradation analysis be performed to
certify that the material proposed meets this specification.
4.. The Contractor and Owner shall take whatever measures are necessary
to assure that (a) the dosing tank, septic tank and sewer lines
are completely water -tight to prevent infiltration of groundwater
into the system, and (b) the system is to be installed to prevent
freezing of all pressure and gravity sewer lines.
5. The County Engineer shall be notified when construction commences
so that the system.can be inspected at regular intervals to assure
conformance with these plans.
6. If the last hole, based on 30 inch spacing,_ is equal to or greater
than 15 inches from the end of the lateral, put another hole in the
end,cap of the pipe or close to it.
7. Stone shall be 3/4"- 2 1/2" crushed rock.
8. The amount of fill outside of the sand area may vary from what is
shown in Section A -A to allow the homeowner to blend the mound in
with the Landscaping Plan.
9. The area disturbed by construction shall be reseeded with native
grasses to prevent erosion.
10 tTse risers as needed to brinq septic tank access hatch within 6" of
finished grade. (Bring dosing tank access hatch to grade)
11. Cast iron pipe or pipe of equal strength or other pipe properly
supported to prevent failure by settlinq shall extend from septic
and dosing tanks for a distance of at least five (5) feet from the
inlet and outlet ends.
12. No vehicular or livestock traffic allowed on bed.
13. The location of the mound may be adjusted in field to better fit
