This permit is for a full replacement of the system and replaces ISDS Permit # 20007 which was to add on to the existing system. The design is for a new 2,000 gallon two compartment septic tank and a total of 72 units of infiltrators in a bed configuration 6 units wide by 12 units long. The old tank will be removed and the old field will be abandoned. Minimum horizontal distances between components of the system and physical features shall conform to the Pitkin County ISDS regulations. This department does not endorse any brand of products. If approval takes longer than 6 hours, a rate of $55 per hour will be charged. The maximum fee is $1000. The basic fee of $330 is due at the time of application. The remainder, if any, will be due in two stages: first, at the time of issuance of the ISDS permit; second, before final approval of the ISDS permit. The soils test and system design must be done by a Registered Professional Engineer. You should plan to meet with the RPE at your site to discuss where the soils tests should be done to meet all of the County regulations and where you want to put your house. The RPE will be your contact for issues you want to discuss about your systems size and location. This must include all such features on neighboring properties within setbacks. Complete building floor plans. Floor plans should be 11x17. Proof of adequate water supply: for private wells, recent well driller's pump test showing gpm actually produced, well permit showing legal supply, and test showing good quality; for community systems, proof there is adequate water for all houses served by the system; for other systems, proof of adequate quality and number of gallon/minute. Well must be drilled before septic permit can be issued. Env. A new 2000 -gallon septic tank, and 72 infiltrator units had been installed. A distribution box had been installed and backfill had taken place over the middle of the infiltrators only. Dear Ms. Meager: As requested, a representative of Hepworth-Pawlak Geotechnical, Inc. conducted Percolation testing at the subject site to evaluate the feasibility of an infiltration septic disposal system. The results of our work are presented in this report. The work was done in accordance with our agreement for professional services to you, dated Juno 28, 2000. A profile pit and three shallow backhoe pits had been excavated at the locations shown on Fig. 1. Percolation test holes had been dug in the bottom of the backhoe pits aad soaked by the client. The soils exposed in the percolation holes are similar to those exposed in the profile pit and consist of about 2 feet of topsoil overlying slightly silty sandy gravel with cobbles and small boulders to the profile pit depth of 8 feet. Groundwater was not observed in the profile pit and the soils were slightly moist to moist. Percolation tests were performed on June 30, 2000 by a representative of Hepworth- Pawlak Geotechnical, Inc. The percolation test results are presented on Table I. The percolation test results indicate an infiltration rate of between 17 and 60 minutes per inch. The subsoils in test hole P-3 were more rocky which could have resulted in the slower rate measured. The average rate of the three tests was 31 minutes per inch. Based on the subsurface conditions observed and the percolation test results, the tested area should be suitable for a conventional idiltration septic disposal system.
