Figure 6 demonstrates the mini- mum venting dimensions for a standard horizontal installation or the low clearance vent kit (T132). Plan your installation carefully to make certain it will comply with the instructions. Here are some basic considerations to remEmber: • 3" clearance required above vent during a standard horizontal installation; 2" clearance required when using a TB2. • 1" clearance required on bot- tom and sides of vent. • 1" clearance around the vent required on vertical installations. • Maximum horizontal run in hori- zontal termination: 26' • Maximum vertical run in hori- I' zonta termination. ,_5 Figure 6 Soffit ~ 26' Max. --I711/4" 16" j Min. Horizontal termination using TB2 The GC361 and GC421 up -vent models require a simple, 5" B -vent for operation. This vent must be terminated above the roof line. Check local building codes for venting requirements in your area. For proper operation, the venting termination must be a minimum of 9' above the top of the appliance. Horizontal offsets are possible, but they must be no greater than 50% of the vent height above the unit. You should always try to minimize horizontal distances to avoid overly restrictive venting. We recommend a vertical rise of 2' be established prior to installing a 900 elbow on top of the unit. The installation instructions have com- plete guidelines for installation. Note: We strongly discourage against any 13 -vent fireplace being installed in a basement or an area susceptible to negative air pres- sure situations such as in a living room with cathedral ceilings.
