Onsite Wastewater Treatment System (OWTS) Use Permit Inspection
730 #3 Rose Spur Road (barn)
Lot 3, JH McCabe Subdivision
Pitkin County, Colorado
Mr. Obuhanick,
As requested, CBO Inc. performed an Onsite Wastewater Treatment System (OWTS) Use Permit
inspection at 730 #3 Rose Spur Road, Snowmass, Colorado on May 29 and June 9, 2014. This
system serves the barn.
No permit and record drawing was provided by Pitkin County Environmental Health Department
(Parcel ID #2645-05404-003). The subject OWTS consists of one 1000 -gallon, two-compartment
concrete septic tank followed and an absorption area of unknown size.
There was evidence of root intrusion in the septic tank, so pumping was necessary in order to
conduct a thorough inspection. The septic tank was pumped by B&R Septic on June 9, 2014 and a
root mat that had formed around the outlet tee was removed. The septic tank appeared to have
good integrity. Both inlet and outlet tees were present; however, the inlet tee was not properly
installed. This was repaired after the inspection (seep photos below). The outlet tee was angled
sharply downward which may indicate settling.
The exact location of the absorption area is not known, but there were no signs of saturation, and no
indication of failure at the time of the inspection. This evaluation is not a guarantee of future system
performance. This inspection is good for one year.
This report should be submitted to the Pitkin County Environmental Health Department. The
following links are the required application and application checklist.
