BOX 1458 GLENWOOD SPRINGS, COLORADO 8 1 602-1 458 rJ Tuesday, September 20, 2005 Ms. Nancy MacKenzie Environmental Health Specialist. Pitkin County Environmental Health Department 0405 Castle Creek Road, Suite 10 Aspen, CO 81611 Re: Child ISDS Plans and Permit Application, Checklist Dear Nancy: The attached plans and permit package are for the proposed new building to be sited on the property, with the address of 4514 Capitol Creek Road. The owners have expressed the desire to remodel/rebuild the existing building on the site, with the address of 4516 Capitol Creek Road, but the schedule of that work is not yet established. For this reason there is only limited information on these plans relative to 4516 Capitol Creek Road. A combined field, sized to serve both residences, would be dealing with 2,538 gpd, and the associated extra offset to streams, wells etc. would be correspondingly large: 8-ft.(2,538 —1,000)/100 = 123.04 -ft.; (plus 100' to wells, and 50' to streams, etc.). We have been unable to site a combined field in the location desired by the owners, to avoid overlapping the spring box that currently serves 4516, nor the existing stream to the north, in the hayfield, or indeed the stream to the east of the driveway. The new spring box that is to serve 4514 Capitol Creek Road is outside of the influence line of the combined field. If the owner was willing to invest in separate treatment systems, one to serve each house, a combined field might be sited in the area shown for the new absorption bed, conditional on Pitkin County allowing the minimum well setback of 100 -feet to apply. Therefore, the small absorption bed to serve only 4514 Capitol Creek Road has peen sited to avoid conflicts with the 50 -ft. and 100 -ft. stream and well setbacks. We recognize that there are, strictly speaking, conflicts with the existing ibsorption fields serving 4516 Capitol Creek Road. However, we believe that the >wner's intent to remodel/rebuild the existing residence at 4516 Capitol Creek Zoad is legitimate, and request that the existing fields be allowed to remain in ervice until their plans are formalized. Please contact me if you see a problem vith this proposal. 1—ja -- racxage submittal lay, September 20, 2005 1 of 2 It is our understanding that the owner, Doug Child, has stopped in at your offices, and submitted a partial permit application. Hopefully, he has also paid the permit fees. There are some items on the Application Checklist the status of which we are not fully aware.
