Dear Bill:
On May 9, 1.979, August 22, 1979 and September 24, 1979
representatives of this office conducted inspections and
collected water samples to determine the adequacy of sewage
disposal and water supply systems serving,the referenced
house.
The sewage disposal, system consists of a 1000 gallon septic
tank and absorption system adequate for a three bedroom
residence. There was no evidence of malfunction at the
time of inspection. The approved permit is enclosed.
Initial water samples from the water system were safe,
however we did note several sanitary defects. Further
bacteriological samples. collected indicated that the
quality of water supplied does not meet primary drinking
water standards. This could be in part,attributed to sampling
techniques at the spring box.
It is recommended that the following improvements be completed
and the water resampled from an inside tap.
1) the water supply lines should be reconnected and buried.
2) the excess ground and surface water should be diverted
from areas around the spring box and cistern.
3) the lid of the spring box should be extended to a
minimum of 12 inches above the natural grade, and
a new watertight, overlaying lid should be obtained.
