THE DOSING SYSTEM INUNDATES THE LEACHING AREA AND THEN ALLOWS THE SOIL TO REST AFTER THE LIQUID LEVEL OF THE DOSING TANK HAS BEEN SYPHONED TO THE A LEVEL BELOW THE SIPHON INTAKE. THE DOSING TANK ALSO PROVIDES A METHOD FOR AUTOMATICALLY ALTERNATING BETWEEN FIELDS. CALCULATIONS FOR ABSORPTION BED SIZE Current residence is 3 bedroom with possible future expansion to 5 bedrooms. The maximum size of the residence is expected to be between 2000 - 6000 square feet. therefore: Design Flow = 5 bedrooms X 2 persons/bedroom X 100 gpd/person X 1.75 peaking factor =5 X 2X 100X 1.75 = 1750 gallons per day Tank Volume = Design Flow X 1.25 (30 hour retention) = 1750 X 1.25 = 2188 gallons A 2500 gallon tank will be used. The absorption area for a gravel less / chambered system type of absorption bed is calculated using the following formula: Absorption Area = Q X SQRT (t) 5 Where Q is max daily flow rate = 1750 gallons per day, and where t is the verified percolation rate = 40 minutes per inch therefore: Absorption Area = 1750 X SORT (40) 5 =1750X6.32 5 = 2212 square feet When the Infiltrator gravel less chamber system is installed in a bed configuration, a reduction of up to 30% in the size of the absorption area may be allowed. For this location a 30% reduction is proposed. therefore: Absorption Area = 0.70 x 2212 sq. ft. = 1548 square feet of Absorption Area The footprint of one Infiltrator unit = 18.75 square feet, however, the effective area of one infiltrator unit = 15.5 sq. ft. and this value is being used conservatively. therefore: Infiltrator units = 1548 sq. ft. / 15.5 sq. ft. = 100 Infiltrator Units The Infiltrator units will be arranged in 10 rows, each containing 10 units. The total size of the absorption bed area will be 30' by 62.5' or 1875 sq.ft. The Infiltrator units will be covered by a minimum of 24" of earth over the entire absorption bed. The absorption area for a gravel less / chambered system type of absorption bed is calculated using the following formula: Absorption Area = Q X SQRT (t) 5 Where Q is max daily flow rate = 1750 gallons per day, and where t is the verified percolation rate = 40 minutes per inch therefore: Absorption Area = 1750 X SORT (40) 5 =1750X6.32 5 = 2212 square feet When the Infiltrator gravel less chamber system is installed in a bed configuration, a reduction of up to 30% in the size of the absorption area may be allowed. For this location a 30% reduction is proposed. therefore: Absorption Area = 0.70 x 2212 sq. ft. = 1548 square feet of Absorption Area The footprint of one Infiltrator unit = 18.75 square feet, however, the effective area of one infiltrator unit = 15.5 sq. ft. and this value is being used conservatively. therefore: Infiltrator units = 1548 sq. ft. / 15.5 sq. ft. = 100 Infiltrator Units The Infiltrator units will be arranged in 10 rows, each containing 10 units. The total size of the absorption bed area will be 30' by 62.5' or 1875 sq.ft. The Infiltrator units will be covered by a minimum of 24" of earth over the entire absorption bed.
