The permit and record drawing was provided by Pitkin County Environmental Health Department (Parcel ID #2729-092-00-002). The subject OWTS consists of one 1000 -gallon, two-compartment concrete septic tank followed by 20' x 20' x 10' deep drywell. Pitkin County Individual Sewage Disposal System Permit 02024 documents this system. The septic tank appeared to be in good condition with the exception of minimal deterioration of the riser on the outlet side of the septic tank, which is normal. Lids were cast iron. Both inlet and outlet tees were present. The effluent filter was not present and must be replaced, as it was part of the original system design. The septic tank was pumped by B&R Septic as part of this inspection. Observation ports were present in the area of the drywell. These observation ports are protected by concrete pads and cast iron lids. The observation port measured approximately 11 -feet below grade. The port to the north was dry, and the port to the south had approximately 1 -foot of water. The drywell showed no signs of abnormal saturation, and had no indication of failure. This evaluation is not a guarantee of future system performance. This inspection is good for one year. Prior to submitting for an OWTS Use Permit, the following repairs must be made: Install effluent filter on outlet side of 1000 -gallon tank (see specification sheet). This report, along with documentation of completed repairs, should be submitted to the Pitkin County Environmental Health Department. Don't: • Pour cooking grease or oil down the sink or toilet. • Rinse coffee grounds into the sink. • Pour household chemicals down the sink or flush them. Don't: • Hush non -degradable products or chemicals, such as feminine hygiene products, condoms, dental floss, diapers, cigarette butts, cat litter, paper towels, pharmaceuticals. Don't: • Park or drive on your drainfield. The weight can damage the drain lines. • Plant trees or shrubs too close to your drainfield, roots can grow into your system and clog it. Don't • Concentrate your water use by using your dishwasher, shower, washing machine, and toilet at the same time. All that extra water can really strain your septic system. Do: • Eliminate or limit the use of a garbage disposal. • Properly dispose of coffee grounds & food. • Put grease in a container to harden before discarding in the trash.
