Any changes must be approved by this department and the design engineer phcj� to them being made. Minimum horizontal distances between components of the system and physical features shall conform to the Pitkin County ISDS regulations. Setback from the tank to the house must be a minimum of 5 feet, house to the septic drywell a minimum of 20 feet, drainage drywell to septic drywell a minimum of 20 feet, and the well to the septic drywell a minimum setback of 104 feet. This design calls for a drywell in a rectangular formation with 2 of the dimensions being 10 feet and the other 2 being 41 feet. The depth of the drywell will be 14.5 feet with the actual depth from the inlet pipe a minimum of 12 feet. The tank will be 1500 gallons with two compartments and a built in baffle at the inlet. This department does not endorse any brand of products. The engineer must do a final inspection of the installation and submit an as -built letter to this department. This department must also be called for an inspection with a minimum of 48 hours advanced notice. If approval takes longer than 6 hours, a rate of $55 per hour will be charged. The maximum fee is $1000. The basic fee of $330 is due at the time of application. The remainder, if any, will be due in two stages: first, at the time of issuance of the ISDS permit; second, before final approval of the ISDS permit. Application for an individual sewage disposal system is hereby submitted. We previously conducted a subsoil study and percolation test for a shallow septic disposal system at the site and presented our findings in a report dated December 15, 1999, Job No. 199 862. Percolation tests were conducted on June 13, 2000 to evaluate the feasibility of a dry well septic disposal system at the site. Three percolation test were performed in the profile pit at depths of about 6, 12, and 16 feet at the approximate same location m shown on, Fig. 1 of our previous report. The test holes (nominal 10 inch diameter by 12 inch deep) were hand dug on benches within the profile pit and were -soaked with water one day prior to testing- The soils exposed in the percolation holes are similar to those exposed in the Profile Pit shown on Fig. 2 of our previous report and consist of silty sandy gravel with cobbles and boulders. No free water was encountered to the pit depth of 16 feet. The percolation test results are presented in Table I and range between 30 and 90 minutes per inch with an average of 55 minutes per inch. Based on the subsurface conditions encountered and the percolation test results, the tested area should be suitable for a dry well infiltration septic disposal system. The irregular shaped dry -well was an attempt to place the dry -well in the area of set -backs. This resulted In a depth of 18.5 feet of gravel and a total depth over 20'. This in our opinion would never be actually built according to these dimensions. The rectangular dry -well could be constructed as shown with a gravel depth of 12', total depth around 15'. This does encroach upon the 20' setback from the house. This in our opinion is acceptable because the slope is away from the house_ The 10 foot property offset is also reduced to 5'.
