Changes must be approved by this Department and the engineer prior to construction. This permit is for the replacement of a shared OWTS system that has failed (Shared with 489 Upper Bullwinkle, now on permit # 0037.2017.POWT). This new system will no longer be a shared system and will only serve the existing 2 bedroom residence at this address. The existing OWTS shall be abandoned properly and evidence of proper abandonment shall be submitted to this department for final approval of this permit. Sewage will flow via gravity to a new 1000 -gallon, two-compartment poly septic tank with an effluent filter installed on the outlet tee. Effluent will then flow via gravity to a new 500 -gallon poly pump tank with an Orenco pump. Effluent will be pumped to an automatic distribution valve (ADV) and then to an unlined sand filter soil treatment bed with 2 zones. The sand bed will be 15' X 40' and three feet deep with (2) 1.5" distribution pipes per zone. Due to this permit being a repair and the proposed system cannot meet the required setbacks for the property line and residence, the STA may violate these setbacks. Water line and cistern setbacks shall be maintained. This Permit must be kept on-site during installation. The engineer must do a final inspection of the installation and submit an "as -built" letter to this Department within 30 days of the final inspection, unless a longer period of time has been agreed upon, in writing. This Department must also be called for the final inspection with a minimum of 48 hours notice. Minimum horizontal distances between components of the system and physical features shall conform to the requirements of the Pitkin County OWTS Regulation. This Permit is conditioned upon the property owner(s) providing for regular inspection, cleaning, and maintenance of the system by qualified personnel, in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations and the requirements of the Pitkin County OWTS Regulation. Issuance of this OWTS Construction Permit does not constitute a guarantee, warranty, or representation by the Department that the system will operate properly or will not fail. Issuance of this permit does not imply compliance with Pitkin County building and/or land use regulations, nor guarantee issuance of building and/or land use permits.
