All of the facilities were constructed in com- pliance with the plans that were submitted to you earlier. If you have any questions or require any additional informa- tion, please let me know. Respectfully submitted, WRIGHT-MCLAUGHLIN ENGINEERS enneth E. Ash KEA:Iw cc: Don Rayburn E August 12, 1076 Aspen Skiing Corporation P. O. Box 1298 Pspen, Colorado 81611 Re: Wastewater Disposal System for Tiehack Restaurant Pitkin County Gentlemen: Lt the December 16, 1975 meeting of the Water Quality Control Commission approval was granted for a site approval for a 2000 gallon septic tank and soil absorption system at the Tiehack Restaurant designed for an average daily flow of 1320 gallons. One of the conditions listed in the site approval letter states that if the flow records indicate a flow greater than the engineer's estimate of 1320 gallons per day, the septic tank and absorption field must be expanded to handle the increased load. I recently received a flow record for the Tiehack Restaurant and noted twelve days that the water use exceeded 1320 gallons per day. It appears to rye that the Aspen Skiing Corporation must either expand the size of the system or limit the water use to 1320 gallons per day. Please indicate what steps will be taken to comply with the above -listed condition of your site approval. Very truly yours, FOR DIRECTOR, WATER QUALITY CONTROL DIVISION Richard H. Bowman, P.E. A certification from the engineer must be furnished prior to commencement of operation stating that the facilities were constructed as shown on the plans submitted or a justification by the engineer and/or operating entity of any changes that were made. 2. The facility must be connected to a regional facility and interceptor at such time as they are available in accordance with the Basin water Quality Plan. 3. An accurate flow meter must be installed on the water supply system and accurate daily flow records must be maintained. 4. The daily flow records must be sent to the Water Quality Control Division at the end of each ski season. 5. If the flow records indicate a flow greater than the engineer's estimate of 1320 gallons per day, the septic tankaand absorption field must be expanded to handle the increased load. 6. This approval is rescinded on December 16, 1976 unless definite steps toward actual construction have been taken by that date. Fm Aspen Skiing Corporation January 16, 1976 Page 2 We have reviewed the plans and specifications and find that they meet our design criteria. This approval does not relieve the orimer from compliance with all county regulations prior to construction nor from responsibility for proper engineering, construction, and operation of the facility. NARRATIVE: Code 12 County 57 I spoke with Don Jensen of the Aspen Skiing Corp., who had re- quested an inspection of the sewage disposal system for the Tiehack Restaurant. The leach field was sized at 30' x 100' with a 1250 -gallon and a 750 -gallon Copeland Concrete Septic Tank in tandem. The 6 inch sewer line was extended back about 50-60 feet. The only problem I found with the field was that the lines were upside down and this was corrected while I was on the site. A representative of Wright -McLaughlin Engineers was on the site and completed his inspection for the consultant at the same time. I mentioned the requirements of extending the manholes of the tank to within 12 inches of the surface as the tanks were set quite deep (3-4 feet) and the fact that we required 5' of cast iron on either side of each septic tank. All other aspects of the system were in:conformance with County Regulations. cam' I8 7.s LETTER TO FOLLOW: ( ) OTHER RECOMMENDATIONS: DATE: October 28, ES: 7 (Rev. 6-70-100) , 19 75 .
