Septic permit approved per compliance with the engineer design and specifications dated June 8, 2004. Any
changes must be approved by this department and the design engineer prior to them being made.
Minimum horizontal distances between components of the system and physical features shall conform to the Pitkin
County ISDS regulations. The setback from the field to the well has been reduced to 130 feet. A minimum of 25
feet must be maintained from the cistern to any component of the septic system.
The existing 2500 gallon tank will be used. If an additional 500 gallon tank will be used as a dosing chamber, it
must be at least 25 feet from the cistern and should not be placed in the area of the existing field. The existing field
will be abandoned. The new field will consist of a distribution box and the effluent will be distributed to 8 rows of 8
chambers for a total of 64 chambers.
This department does not endorse any brand of products. This permit must be kept on-site during installation.
The engineer must do a final inspection of the installation and submit an as -built letter to this department. This
department must also be called for an inspection with a minimum of 48 hours advanced notice.
*Revegetation over the area of the field is very important for the functioning of the system. Pitkin County has guidelines that must be
followed to assure the plants that are introduced are appropriate for the conditions of the area. The use of native plants is strongly
encouraged.

satisfactory. Permission is hereby granted to the owner or the agent to perform the work indicated in accordance with the Pitkin
County ISDS Regulation in effect at the time of issue. This permit becomes invalid 6 months from the date that the permit was
issued unless system construction has commenced or an extension has been approved in writing by the Department.

The fee for a ISDS application is $600 for a permit that takes 6 hours or less for the department to approve. If approval takes
longer than 6 hours, a rate of $100 per hour will be charged. The maximum fee is $1000. The basic fee of $600 is due at the
time of application. The remainder, if any, will be due in two stages: first, at the time of issuance of the ISDS permit; second,
before final approval of the ISDS permit.
Application for an individual sewage disposal system is hereby submitted. I hereby certify that the above information is true and
accurate and that I have provided true and accurate information on locations of all existing and proposed wells, contour
intervals, buildings, property lines, ditches, slopes, waterlines, springs, suction or irrigation lines, drinking water cisterns, drain
tiles, irrigation ditches, lakes, water courses, streams, floodplains, dry gulches, and existing septic systems. I hereby certify that
any such features not shown on attached site map are not present. Issuance of the permit does not imply the approval of any
other permit required for construction pursuant to Pitkin County codes. No construction may be undertaken until all approvals
and permits have been obtained.
The Pitkin County Environmental Health Department, Pitkin County and employees of these agencies will be held harmless
should the individual sewage disposal system fail or malfunction. The permit to construct is issued on information submitted by
the applicant or his/her representatives. The owner assume full responsibility in case of failure of the system.

ALL SERVICE septic, LLC performed an installation observation of the onsite wastewater system
(OWS) for 285 Pyramid Road on August 25, 2004 and September 1, 2004.
The installation included the addition of a BiotubeTM pump vault placed in the existing 2500 -gallon,
two compartment precast concrete septic tank, and 992 square feet of drain field. The drain field has 8
rows of 8 gravelless chambers, for a total of 64 gravelless chambers in a bed configuration. A
cleanout was installed between the foundation of the house and the septic tank. An as -built drawing is
provided as Figure 1.
The pumping system was wired into a control panel mounted on the outside of the residence. David
Muckenhirn, supervisor, may activate the pumping system at his discretion.
The OWS was installed in conformance with the plans and specifications.

INFORMATION BELOW IS INCLUDED.
The soils test must be done by a Registered Professional Engineer. The ISDS design must be done by a
Colorado Registered Professional Engineer (RPE) or an individual performing engineering services for
themselves. Note: an individual may provide ISDS engineering services for themselves provided the
dwelling the ISDS serves is his/her primary residence. You should plan to meet with the RPE at your site
to discuss where the soil tests should be done to meet all of the County regulations and where you want
to put your house. The RPE will be your contact for issues you want to discuss about your system's size
and location. Each box should be checked to indicate the following have been submitted before the
application can be accepted.

lines, sprinkler systems, springs, suction (irrigation) lines, drinking water cisterns, drain tiles,
irrigation ditches, lakes, ponds, water courses, streams, floodplains, floodways, dry gulches or
existing septic systems. This must include all such features on neighboring properties within
setbacks.

-� Proof of adequate water supply (Well must be drilled before septic permit can be issued): For
private wells, recent well driller's pump test showing gpm actually produced, well permit showing
legal supply. The minimum yield from the well or water storage shall be .07
gallons/minute/person, which is 100 gallons/person/day. There must be storage or yield capable
of a 24-hour supply for domestic purposes only (not including fire protection or irrigation). For
community systems, proof there is adequate water for all houses served by the system.
Proof of adequate water quality with bacteriology test. Aspen Consolidated Sanitation District
and Snowmass Water & Sanitation District perform this test locally.
Percolation tests
All ISDS Permit fees are $600, to cover first six hours of processing. Hourly rate of $100 will be
charged beyond first six hours, up to $1,000. "Tank only" fee $150. Please make check payable
to: Pitkin County Environmental Health Department.
Copy of county approval (1041 approval, subdivision approval, etc.) You must obtain written
approval from Community Development before submitting this application if your septic system is
outside the building envelope.
A WAIVER IS AVAILABLE FOR SUBMITTING A BUILDING PERMIT APPLICATION PRIOR TO OBTAINING
AN INDIVIDUAL SEWAGE DISPOSAL SYSTEM PERMIT.

Percolation Test and Onsite Wastewater System Design

ALL SERVICE septic, LLC performed a percolation test and an onsite wastewater system (OWS)
design for 285 Pyramid Road in Pitkin County.
EXISTING CONDITIONS AND PROPOSED STRUCTURE
The subject property is located outside the Town of Aspen in an area where OWS and wells are
necessary. There is an existing residence that is under construction. The existing drain field is to be
abandoned. A 2500 -gallon concrete septic tank, located south of the residence, will be incorporated
into the proposed OWS. The slope at the proposed field is 2% to the west. There is a thin cover of
grass at the proposed field location.
The existing residence will be remodeled to a 5 -bedroom residence, having less than 6000 square feet
(SF) of living area. The drain field is proposed in the southern portion of the lot, and must be 130 feet
from the onsite well. In accordance with Pitkin County Environmental Health Department (PCEHD)
Individual Sewage Disposal System regulations, the average daily sewage load for a five -bedroom
dwelling is calculated at 1000 gallons per day (GPD), 1750 GPD with a 1.75 peaking factor.
SUBSURFACE
The subsurface was investigated by excavating a 101`pit near the proposed drain field location.
The test pit indicated the site has a thin layer of topsoil, underlain by sand, with cobbles and gravel to
10 feet. Groundwater or bedrock was not encountered.
DESIGN SPECIFICATIONS
The existing 2500 -gallon septic tank maybe rused with the addition of a BiotubeTM pump vault. The
drain field must include 8 rows of 8 gravelless chambers, for a total of 64, aid a total infiltrative area
of 992 SF. A 3 -inch or 4 -inch perforated PVC lateral must extend the entire length of each chamber
row. The lateral should be placed on the ground surface with holes facing downward. A concrete
distribution box or Flow Splitter BasinTm should be used to distribute effluent. As an alternative, a
filter may be placed on the outlet of the existing 2500 -gallon septic tank, followed by a 500 -gallon
concrete tank with a pump. Pump specifications are presented on the pump curve.
Based on geological conditions, dosing the drain field, and evaluation of risk of contamination of
surface water and ground water, it is not necessary to add 8 feet additional distance for each 100
gallons of wastewater flow over 1000 gallons per day as specified in the table to prevent
contamination. The 130 -foot separation between the proposed absorption area and surface water or
ground water is appropriate to prevent contamination.
OPERATION INFORMATION AND MAINTENANCE
The surface of the drain field should be seeded upon completion. Vegetation is an important factor in
drain field performance. Geo -fabrics or plastics should not be used over the drain field. Livestock
should not graze on the drain field.
The homeowner should pump the septic tank every two years and clean the effluent filter as needed.
Garbage disposal use should be minimized, and non -biodegradable materials should not be placed
into the OWS. Loading from a water softener should not be discharged into the OWS. No hazardous
wastes should be directed into the OWS. Mechanical room drains should not discharge into the OWS.
The OWS is engineered for residence waste only.
INSTALLATION OBSERVATIONS
ALL SERVICE septic, LLC, must view the installation of the OWS. The observation should be
performed before backfill, after placement of chambers and distribution pipes. Septic tanks,
distribution devices, pumps, dosing siphons, and other plumbing, as applicable, must also be
observed. ALL SERVICE septic, LLC should be notified 48 hours in advance to observe the
installation.
LIMITS:
The design is based on information submitted. If soil conditions encountered are different from
conditions described in report, ALL SERVICE septic, LLC should be notified. All OWS construction
must be according to the county regulations. Requirements not specified in this report must follow
county regulations. The installer should have documented and demonstrated knowledge of the
requirements and regulations of the county in which they are working.
